    AMHR question

Could anyone tell me if the registry does a horse owner look up if you have the registry number? I let my membership lapse as I was no longer showing so am not current on their member services. I realize they may not due to member privacy. There is a horse we owned I’d love to find if possible...

    Rough Magic

Just ran across the book, ‘Rough Magic‘ by Lara Prior-Palmer. It is a magical but true story of the world’s longest toughest horse race, the Mongol Derby. Who knew?! Mongolia puts enormous care and precision into the care of the horses and the history of everything is fascinating. If you...

    Madeline on a stroll

Madelaine in her favorite pose. ;) She lives with Tinker and DD in a dry paddock, so a walk with a graze is her happy place. One of our last official days of summer. :( You can see some of the Fall colors in the back. (The cornfield is our neighbors.)

    Feast of the donkey

I just read that today, January 14, was designated Feast if the Donkey during medieval times to recognize their importance in the Bible. Sadly it fell off of the calendar sometime during the 1500’s. It is a sweet festival so to all of you donkeys out there, Madeline says, Happy Feasting!

    Showing in 2022

I love reading the different competition experiences and results that are posted here from time to time, and thank you all for sharing. It is motivating even if you aren’t currently competing! I did pull up the MN State Fair Horse Show info a few days ago, as they do offer a miniature show, too...

    Cochise

This is a photo from this morning of our 40 year old BLM Mustang, Cochise. We adopted him in 1992 and our sons named him Cochise, because it means, if I remember right, strong like oak or wood. Since I’ve mentioned him from time to time, thought you’d enjoy seeing our old friend.

    Driving and senior ponies

It is so much fun to read your driving posts and view your photos, that I am considering dusting off my easy entry cart and driving DD again. DD is a 20 year old, 30” mini, very well trained but has not been driven in about 4 years. I know many riding horses are routinely ridden in their 20’s...

    Magazine Carriage Driving

Have you ever seen the British magazine, “Carriage Driving”? Through a free library app, ‘Libby’, I stumbled over them and they are a treat to read and also to enjoy the photos. I’m not sure why our library system has them but am so glad they do. If you have a library card, you can access...

    Our donkey, Madelaine

Posting a photo of our inherited donkey, Madelaine. :) In my wildest dreams, I never imagined owning a donkey, The Black Stallion? Flame the Island Stallion? Misty of Chicoteaque? Snowbound? Sure! Madelaine..not so much.🤣 She is about 36” tall at the withers and is now about 19 years old...

    Thank you, Buddy.

Lost our 30 year old, AMHR Bertrand's Irish Lad today, aka Buddy. Buddy was a wonderful black and white pinto with blue eyes and earned his Hall of Fame, before our time together. He’d been a part of our family about 15 years now, teaching our granddaughters all about jumping, hunting, and...

    Driving bit suggestions

Hello! I have a driving mini mare who really is a sweet, steady mare, just about as safe as possible. Several years ago, I sold one of my two harnesses as our granddaughters were off to college and work. The harness I kept fits DD well, but the bit doesn’t. Everything has sat for the past...

    Hello from MN

Hi! I am a returning member formerly under “7fluffyfriends”. Our computer server changed our email and then I couldn’t re-enter the forum. It just didn’t occur to me to open a new account! 😂 I’m grateful to be back in and able to share once in awhile as well as learn from all of you. Mary
