    What grain/feed do you feed you minis?

    The Purina mini feed is actually pretty high in sugar considering it's supposedly formulated to fit their special metabolic needs. I wouldn't feed a mini (or any horse, really...) sweet feed, either, for the same reason. However, I wouldn't think minis would need grain under most circumstances...

    It's pretty common to separate mares and geldings.     Mini bits

    I feel like a mullen mouth fits my dainty-headed guy nicer than a single joint did. To me it looked like the joint was resting way too far forward in his mouth, even though the cheekpieces were adjusted correctly and a 3" would have been too narrow.

    Hard to catch!

    If one of my equines runs away, I cluck and chase them like it was my idea. Running away seems a lot less appealing if I'm "making" them do it.

    What do you put your hay in for your mini?

    I have a hay net with 1/2 inch holes. It takes him a few hours to finish his pound of hay and almost none gets wasted. I want him to be able to spend more time eating than he would if he could eat at his pace. I feel it is pretty safe as the holes are tiny and it's not the kind that can stretch.
