    Grazing Muzzle Question

Candycar, I,too, am considering a grazing muzzle for my 8 year old mini gelding. He has gained so much weight since we got him 5 months ago. I don't have a dry lot. He grazes about 10 hours a day on a very short mixed Bermuda grass area. He gets 8 oz of Purina Miniature Horse and Pony Feed AM...

    Feeding during fall and winter

I know this is a loaded question, but I'm trying to figure out how much hay to purchase once the grass dies out. This will be roughly September through March. I have a yearling weighing about 110 and an 8 yr old that's about 250. I want to buy enough but not too much and plan to slow feed via...

Hello everyone, I inherited a mini who has a show clipping. How do I determine where the last mane hair is growing? It looks as though part of the hair was left longer past the withers.

    First mini

That's great information. I would like to use him as a therapy horse provided he has the temperament for it. I have no experience with youngsters and would have to rely on internet information. Hello all, I've run across a yearling whose owner states has been handled daily. Would it be wise to purchase this little guy as my first mini? I owned full size horses for about 2 years in the past.

    Minis and ????

chandab, How do you incorporate an LGD with your animals? Looking to add mini(s) to our herd of 5 llamas. We lost 2 llamas to a coyote or ferral dog last year. I'd like to use an LGD but unsure if the llamas and it would get along where they would fend off predators together.

    Frequency of feeding

Thank you Chandab. I would love to be home all day with my projects. Unfortunately, it's not feasible. It just seems weird to feed in the morning in the dark.

    Frequency of feeding

    To show or do therapy...

Where and how would one go about finding 'the one'? I don't have a lot of horse experience nor know of anyone who could advise me on selection. While there are many good breeders out there, there are still many unscrupulous ones as well who would tell you basically anything.
