    Hillary’s driving journal

Update on Hillary! It’s been so hot lately so we haven’t been able to drive a lot but it was cool enough today for a drive. We went out about a mile on the road and she was great! We tried a new bit because she was using a single jointed egg butt snaffle and she seemed really irritated by that...

    First show results!

I took the mares to their first show today! Me and Starlight got 3rd out of 5 in halter and 1st out of 4 in the hunger class, she was the only horse to make it clear through the course. It was very technical and difficult! My sister and Hillary just did the halter class and got 4th out of 5...

    Hillary’s driving journal

Hillary has been doing so great with her driving lately! Last weekend a friend trailered her mini over and we went out on a “trail drive” and both minis had never been in company(to our knowledge) before this and they were fantastic! We were out on the cranberry bogs for almost 2 hours! She...

The minis first show on Thursday!

I’m so excited to bring both mares Hillary and Starlight to a local show on the 4th! Hillary is being shown by my younger sister and under the name “Get Shorty” and I will be showing Starlight as “Starlight Renegade”. Both mares will be doing a halter class and then me and Starlight are doing a...

Do you have a tail maintenance routine?

Hello all! Today was my day to wash tails and re-bag them(for the ones that wear a bag) and came to thinking what everyone else does. Do you bag their tail or just leave it? Grow it out or cut it? Please share your routine or plans! I would love to know what you all do!

    Hillary’s driving journal

Thank you! I’m using a single jointed eggbutt snaffle right now. It works great for her as she is super sensitive and responsive! I would love to try a Mullen mouth or a double jointed and just to see if she likes anything else!

    Hillary’s driving journal

We did it! Hillary has her first drive on Wednesday and she was fantastic! We stayed in my ring and did walk, trot, and many turning exercises. She was fantastic! I’m Thursday we hitched again started in the ring then went down a trail and she was so good! I think she really enjoys it. I...

    Question on blinkers!

Yes, she has white patches on her back but also has smaller ones on her belly and a couple on her legs. They could be scars or just her natural coloring. I would love to know as a definite though!

    Question on blinkers!

Here’s a picture of her ground driving! This is a temporary harness I’m getting a new one before we hitch her m because it doesn’t fit her perfectly but it works for what we do now.

    Question on blinkers!

I ground drove her yesterday with the open bridle and oh my goodness she was a dream! We were out on the cranberry bogs for about an hour or so. She was walking through puddles ( she spooks at puddles and even a different color DIRT when she wears the closed bridle) and navigating the trails...

    Question on blinkers!

Thank you so much! I will continue to ground drive her in an open bridle, our first hitch should be sometime next week as the cart is in the shop getting new tires.

    Question on blinkers!

Hello everyone! So one of my mares, Hillary, is in re-training to drive at the moment. She is a rescue from Pennsylvania and her previous owners said she could drive. So I’ve been ground driving her almost everyday, we go out on wide open cranberry bogs and she’s amazing. However, she does...

    Exercise schedules

Awesome! I’ve just restarted one of my mares with a sled and she’s doing great! I will be adding hay to the schedule as well!

    Exercise schedules

I thought that we could share our schedules for our minis to keep them in shape! It might help other people I certainly would appreciate it! I usually lunge 2x a week, jump 1-2x a week, and go for long walks out on the cranberry bogs any other days. Of course they get a day off too! I also do...

    Hello from Massachusetts!

My ponies LOVE to be groomed especially when they are shedding and a little itchier than normal!

    Hello from Massachusetts!

With my minis and ponies I’ve had in the past it seems similar to dogs and cats but just a lot more fur! It seems never ending and the more you brush it the more comes off!
