    Lilli´s first pregnancy

On my mares if I wrap my hands around belly, so hands meet in front of milk bar, I can feel slight bumps and kicks. I check out two mares due beginning to mid April today. Felt bumps on one, couldn't feel anything on the other. Both are definitely pregnant.

How many are expecting foals in 2020?

We bred 8. Two are definitely not preggo. Three are possible. Three are definitely pregnant.

    Udder development?

When fluid gets clear, sticky, and sweet tasting (business partner tested) she is within 24-48 hours from delivering. It can chance quick. Her bag looks ready to go.

    Magic Marker 2019

Thought we were going to have a baby last night. A lot of stretching, pacing, and loose stools. She held on, but pretty sure tonight. Bag is bigger now than 6 am this morning. She is not as wide and her vulva is elongated.

Here's pictures of the five babies. Phantom (black splash) is the oldest and still loves to be loved on. Will be testing for LWO and splash. She was clipped about 6 weeks ago. Lilly (dominate white) is still shy. I think its due to not being able to hear. She is all white (dominate white)...

Gidget will be 300 days on July 11. She is moving right along. We have her in the area that has the barn, tackshed, and other outbuildings. I will start stalling her Thirs night and staying out in the barn. Here is her bag from this morning.

    Udder development?

330 is not a set day. Our five mares went all over the board. Anywhere from 320-345. Just hang in there. She is making the perfect baby for you.

    Question about gestation and foaling

She had her first and only foal at 320 two years ago. She is moving forward a little at a time. She will be 300 on the 11th and will start staying in a stall at night.

    Question about gestation and foaling

I know that. She doesn't have any liquid out. I was, at first, worried she was going to foal before 300 days. Now I think she will be foaling between 300-330 days, allowing the foal to be full term.

    No Hay in Indiana

    Your welcome.

    Udder development?

That udder was a sure sign she was going to foal! Waited until you quit checking on her to foal. I had a mare this year that I checked on her and she was eating. Went out a hour later to a filly born!

    Question about gestation and foaling

My last mare is 12 days away from 300 days (based on first day covered). In the last three days she is bagging up quite quickly. She is a 28" refined mare so bag does not get huge. How many days before 300 days can the foal be able to live without medical intervention. I know some breeders jave...

    Udder development?

What is most helpful is take the pictures from her level of directly behind and broadside. Also if you have a cell phone with a camera; have it where when you look at the phone in camera mode; you are looking at yourself. Put the phone directly under the mare. You can see her milk bar and take a...

    No Hay in Indiana

Fescue is only bad for mares in their last trimester. Can cause birthing issues, no milk production, and abortions. Can cause other issues I can't remember. Blister Beetles are found in alfalfa in some states. They will kill a horse if digested.

    No Hay in Indiana

When we lived in AZ, alfalfa was all we got. Cheaper than Bermuda. When we moved to MO, we switched the stallions over to our local hay (primarily fescue). We had trouble keeping weight on them. We had to buy alfalfa for the pregnant mares this year, so went ahead and switched stallions over...

    Udder development?

You may not see milk dripping. We have had only one mare wax up and didn't do it her next two pregnancies. If the liquid is easily expressed, amber color, sticky, and taste sweet she is very close. She also may be stalling because the colt is in with her. You may need to give her her own space...

344 days and Blondie didn't disappoint. A cremello and filly, to boot. Very refined, tiny, and dishy face. Back in the fetlocks but should unfold in time. I had checked on Blondie around 7 and she was eatting. Went out around 9 pm for the night and filly was out. Mom was pretty crampy so gave...

Here's some pictures of our first four babies. Three fillies all sired by Magic Mans Top Ticket. A colt sired by LK Buckeroo Zipit. We had planned on selling the colt but he is really nice, so may wait on it. Phantom (black splash and possibly LWO+) is 7 weeks and was clipped yesterday. Boy! Did...
