    Halter sizes

Obviously I don't have any minis yet, but I was at the farm co-op today for chicken feed and noticed beautiful leather halters. There were several sizes, and it looked like "suckling" was the smallest size, next one up was weanling. They weren't terribly expensive either, around twenty bucks...

    Learning to trim hoofs

So, being a dog groomer, I'm quite used to maintaining pets here without visits to the groomer Saves me $60 plus bucks every 6 weeks. Anyway, I called around yesterday to the horse vet and farrier and got a general price so that I can budget for the minis (2). Vet looks like about $360...

    Pasture, to improve or not?

Ok, more preparation questions for next year! The area where I want to do my 2 150x90' pastures (for rotation) don't have great grass, it's pretty sparse. I had a company come out yesterday to do soil testing because most of our lawn is being taken over by weeds and moss. It's pretty shady...

    Learning to drive a mini

I thank you all for your good answers about feeding and pasture setup My next question is... is is feasible to train a mini to drive? I am looking at some minis at a breeder (shows) but they are only just halter trained. I have trained dogs in the past and I am reading as much as possible...

New to Minis, Lots of questions

Well, I've been horse crazy since a child, going on almost 40 years now! Dh has given the go for a pair of minis next year after we get some of our house projects done here, and build a little barn and put up fencing. First issue is: FEEDING: The thing that is really scaring me at this point...
