    Moss Out and pasture

Thanks, have my answer about moss out. My moss in the pasture is in direct sunlight but being minis they get every last morsel of grass so moss and dandelions have a good chance to prevail

    Moss Out and pasture

Thank you, I think digging it up makes sense, my area is not that large.

    Moss Out and pasture

Has anyone used moss out on their miniatures pasture? Our paddocks have a lot of moss and would love to change it into grass. I don't need to put them on it immediately, but wondered how long. It seems it's only iron oxide of some sort, so sounds like it's safe.

    Rehabbing an injury

Thanks, vet is going to have me lunge at the walk another week or so. He seems fine during workout. Guess we aren't hooking up anytime soon though.

    Rehabbing an injury

I'm just brining my miniature back after a slight check ligament strain and now he needs to work that leg, carefully of course. I'm currently walking him (double lunging) on a slight hill (have no choice when it comes to enclosed area) for 30 minutes. Has anyone brought back a horse...

    Miniature Horse Veterinary Career

Thanks to my vet, who is attending a Vet Conference and took my mini's ultrasounds with her, she found a colleague who was familiar with driving injuries and now we will explore carpal canal sheath tear. I don't think it's too severe because he's only marginally off walking around and no pain...

    Miniature Horse Veterinary Career

I have a great vet - doing everything she can for my 13 yr old gelding with left front lameness, mostly going downhill to the left. 1 - block leg - no differences until just below the knee; x ray leg - no issues; ultra sound tendons and ligaments - send off to radiologist who says - Oh my...

    ADS Freestyle Class

I'm working on my first driving freestyle (done riding ones many times). In regular dressage, the time starts when the horse moves off from the first halt and finishes at the second halt. The ADS rulebook says the time will start when the Judge indicates. How do I know when that will be...

    The mini left behind

Thanks for the responses. The mini mare was stabled with a full sized gelding for almost a year and when he left, she was perfectly happy to be with my mini gelding instead. She used to rear in her stall, now we have a board out so they can see each other at night. I've thought about taking...

    The mini left behind

I have an experienced gelding who has been to shows and CDEs, no problem. My other mini is a mare that is just a companion/pet but I'm not sure she's ever been without equine companionship. Now I want to trailer the gelding to clinics and shows and I'm worried about what I will leave behind...

    Skittish horse

Just a heads up, it's my understanding that miniatures are very sensitive to banamine, not something you want to give unless you have to for pain/colic. I've had some good experience with SmartPak UltraCalm. It has taken my skittish mare from not wanting to be touched much to where I can rub...

Trailer for mini and driving cart

Thanks for all the answers. After thinking about the cargo trailer, and the additional costs, I bought a friends older Kingston straight load that will be easy to modify for my mini and cart. It's steel and strong. Shes' been hauling two large warmbloods all around in it but wanted a...

Trailer for mini and driving cart

okay, I'm getting the idea about cargo trailers. Roxane, is your mini free in the front of your trailer? Thanks for info, your truck is just what I just bought!

Trailer for mini and driving cart

Thank you for good advice, I will definitely look into a cargo trailer and I agree about the ride in a standard horse trailer. My load will be under 1000 lbs with only one mini or maybe two Love the idea of ATV ramps

Trailer for mini and driving cart

I finally jumped in a bought a truck (been out of the horse trailering business for at least 5 years) and now need a trailer to haul a single miniature and smart cart Questions: I have hauled him several times loose in a box type area of my friends 2+1 trailer. Is this safe for him, or...

    Pasture buddies, NOT

Thank you all. I think my gelding is the boss (at least originally) but the heat cycle might have made Emmy take charge. I guess they were squealing and kicking at each other, my husband was who broke it up.

    Pasture buddies, NOT

My mare and gelding have been getting along great in a pasture together since early August. I was out of town when my husband had to break up a kicking and squealing contest on the 14th. When I purchased the mare I knew she was not happy being bred (which was not a problem for me) but now I'm...

Cushings Miniatures on Pergolide or similar...

I've treated 16+ hand horses using a pill twice a day. (1300 lbs or so). Pill dissolves in bran/beet pulp mash easily. I didn't pay for the last horse that was boarded with me but back when my gelding was being treated and I had to buy from a pharmacy using the people drug (now off market...

    Fourth of July

I have two minis who go into stalls at night but my barn is about 300 feet from a housing development of rentals, small lots, lots of houses. Last year the noise was horrific for about 3 hours on the Fourth. Luckily we have an ordaniance that stops it at 11pm. I was wondering what everyone...
