    Dogs and driving

I occasionally take my staffy with me on drives, she loves to ride in the cart and run beside it, but I only allow it with certain horses when I can keep a really close eye on her and prefer to keep her in the cart now. We had an incident with one horse when the dog ran across in front of the...

    Negative Judge's Comments...

I hope this doesn't sound like a sore loser's rant, but I'd like to chat about this. I took my stallion to his first show for the year last weekend. It was a tiny agricultural show (to give perspective, the local village has a population of 70 people). There were a total of about 6 Miniatures...

    Too Cresty, Any Tips?

Anyone have some exercises to help with an overly cresty neck? I'd rather not use sweating, so just wondering if anyone has had luck without resorting to that.

    Help with colour?

Thanks guys! Reignmaker Miniatures, that colour is pretty much exactly the same as my colt's dam. The test will tell for sure, but I'm leaning towards both him and his dam being a dark grullo now. Appreciate the input!

    Help with colour?

Thanks Sassy, unfortunately I'll need to send another sample as it's going to a different place, there's only one that does the test for Dun.

Thank you again Chanda I'm going to send in another sample to get the Dun test done. If it comes back negative, what colour would he be? Brown?

False Pregnancy or Lost a Foal

So sorry to hear that she may have lost her foal. I've lost a few over the years so I know the feeling. I've also had, as strange as it sounds, several mares who have appeared to be in season (heat) and have even let the stallion serve them whilst already in foal. I even had one mare give birth...

    Help with colour?

Thank you for that Chanda! Your little ones are lovely! What colour are his parents? He does look similar to my colt, just a lighter version. I just grabbed some quick snaps of my boy, would appreciate some opinions. Also found a baby one, he'd be about 4 months old here and has already...

    Help with colour?

Thanks Tremor, will definitely get pictures up as soon as I can. Another thought just occured. Is it more likely that he is simply dun instead of buckskin? The test I had done was only to detect the presence of the cream gene. This would also make sense with his dorsal stripe, wouldn't it?

    Help with colour?

I'm trying to work out what colour my little colt is, any help would be greatly appreciated. He was born a light creamy fawn colour which darkened as he lost his baby coat to be what I was sure was a black buckskin (also called smokey black?). He shows all the characteristics including the...

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to Lil Beginnings! My name is April, I'm from Australia. I've been lurking for a bit, but only just joined up. I have been really enjoying reading all of the threads here, everyone is amazingly helpful and friendly, unlike a lot of the...
