    Horse-Related Injuries

A hoofprint to the thigh (my fault), a concussion (my fault) and most recently, a broken hip, pelvis, other hip, and tailbone from a rear gone awry! All from ponies, not minis.

    5 Mile Hike

So I have been meaning to take Teddy to a barn near us, (2.5 miles through woods, cornfield, and neighborhoods) for a couple of months now, just to get him used to a new place, with different animals! (donkeys, minis, big horses, cats, chickens, etc). We didn't know how to get there, but finally...

    Anyone watch Heartland??

I read all the books first, but there was enough time between my reading the books and watching the show that I was not disappointed. LOVE IT!!!

    Nook Simple Touch

My 1st edition NOOK has finally broken down, but only after two years! We were told that this is the average "lifespan"... and that the wi-fi chip is dead, which is why it won't download any more books. Has anyone had the same types of problems with this? I am considering the NOOK simple touch...

    Eye Infection?

We did get a fly mask today, and he will be wearing it religiously from here on out. I had my riding instructor come out and look at it, and she said it looks fine. The eye seems to have cleared up now, there hasn't been any more discharge or pus. I will keep a close eye on it (no pun intended)...

    Eye Infection?

Last Thursday, we had the vet come out and do some eye exams on Teddy, there had been some drainage coming out of his left eye for about a week, so she flushed out the blocked tear duct and gave us ointment for a small scratch on his eye. It's been a week, which was the prescribed amount of...

    First Parade!

Teddy went to the Horse Trading days Parade on Friday; he was the star of the show! Hopped right up on the trailer, and didn't get too nervous when he was surrounded by swarms of children. The only thing that startled him throughout the entire parade was the sudden applause.

    Vaccines

It is time for the vet to come do Teddy's shots, and I've read about bad reaction to the West Nile combo shot. This is my first time, his old owner said he had a simple four way shot last April. What shots do you give or does it vary depending on climate? We're in Pittsburgh here.

    Tall boots

This is horse-related... where do you measure a tall boot from? Is it from the highest part of the spanish cut to the top of the heel, or the lower (inside) part of the spanish cut to the flat part of the boot?

    Shedding in Pittsburgh

Does anyone have minis in PA/ Western PA, that are barely beginning to shed? Right now I don't think it's a problem, seeing as we have snow today ! But this is supposed to be the end of the cold weather and Teddy still has his woolly mammoth coat. I would like to avoid clipping him, if at all...

    Is evening time, ok?

Teddy is also boarded, 20 minutes away, and we cannot get up the driveway when it has an snow on it. Living in Pittsburgh, that made this last winter a bit difficult. She will still recognize you and be ecstatic to get out and work, but I know Teddy developed some nasty attitude problems that...

    Trick Training

Double T- how did you teach him these? Teddy does give kisses And for a pedestal, I'd like one that could withstand all of his weight if I could get him to stand on it completely. I've heard of people nailing a thick wooden circle onto a tire.

    Trick Training

I decided we needed a little variety in our routine, so today we threw in some obstacles and a trick. We needed to channel all of that spunk into something useful! We walked over plastic bags and I took a rubber feed pan and flipped it over as a pedestal and Teddy, always up for something new...

    First Harness

I am in the process of starting "ground-driving" with my almost two year old gelding, but we've been using a halter and two lead ropes, so I was thinking it's about time to get a harness. I'm not planning on hitching him up to a cart until he is at least three, but I would like some opinions on...
