    Whip for HyperBike

Any leads on where I can get one? I contacted MCR whips and UltraLight whips, and neither are able to make a driving whip short enough. I don't want to use a crop because I need a lash. My makeshift temporary whip seriously needs to be upgraded! Maybe I need to get into the custom whip...

Quick question- russet lining on black harness?

Is this "show acceptable," for CDE use? Anything I'd have to keep in mind for planning my turnout (ie do I need a certain type/color cart to "match" the harness)? A forum search and google search didn't turn up any useful info. I found a nice used one, but don't want to buy something that I...

    Hoof/Leg issues- advice needed!

Yesterday I noticed a very dark area on Skip's left front hoof sole- it covers a good 1/3 of her hoof bottom, from about an inch past her heels almost to her toe on one side. She was also moving and standing slightly toed out, which is abnormal. There was no heat, swelling, sensitivity...

Just had my first lesson with Andy Marcoux

And it was awesome! This was my 2nd driving lesson ever- first one was some 5-6 years ago- and now I'm wishing I'd had the $$$ to be taking lessons all along, because I learned SO much. I used Kandy, the HyperBike, and our brand new Camptown harness. Thanks to all the posts I've read about...

    Horizontal crack/hole in hoof wall...

Today I noticed a horizontal crack in Skip's hind hoof, about 2/3 the way down. It is bruised/pink above the crack. It's pretty shallow, no more than 1/4", and the area isn't warm. Nothing is coming out of the crack. It doesn't seem to be bothering her in the least- she's not lame or sore...

Fox Lane carts- Anyone have one? *Update- decided on a HyperBike!

I am slowly destroying my little green road cart on the trails, so I've decided it's time to trade in one of the road carts, either the green one or Skippy's new one, for a cart I can have more fun with I've been looking at Smart Carts and Minicrowns, but came across the Fox Lane carts-...

    Bit fit help!

I have been assuming Kandy had a 4 1/4" mouth- that's what her old bit was, and it seemed to fit her just fine. I needed to get her a new bit for the summer (I don't want her in her usual liverpool when she's doing lessons with fairly inexperienced people), so bought a 4 1/4" online- it got...

    Where to find small singletree?

I need to mount the singletree on my new-to-me road cart underneath (angle of draft is just slight upward), but the singletree it came with is about 1/2" too big- keeps bumping the metal that the floor planks are attached to. Anyway, anyone know where I can find a 20" singletree with hook ends...

Safest way to get up steep hills?

There is a gorgeous conditioning trail at my new barn that's perfect for driving (in fact, the owner made it specifically for her driving horses!). Sadly for Skip, we have to go up a very steep hill to get to the trail. Skip really can't pull me and the cart, so I'm wondering how to navigate...

Anyone have an Ozark Mtn Carriage Harness?

I am looking for another harness so both of my girls have their own harness for this summer, and came across a used Ozark Mountain Carriage Harness that will fit Skip and is in my price range. Does anyone have one? Leia, I see your picture on their website with the harness, so I'm hoping you...

    Tandem resources

Since Skip is too sick to drive (likely Lyme issues, poor thing), and I'm nervous about Kandy being shipped here in two weeks, I need something to keep myself busy and looking forward to this summer. Now that I will finally have two trained driving horses in the same place, I would really...

    Treating lyme in minis

Skip had a swollen stifle 2 weeks ago, and I later discovered a tick bite on her leg. Earlier last week she started becoming very sensitive to being touched- biting and threatening to kick when groomed or petted- which is very out of the ordinary for her. My vet is coming out this week to pull...

    Swollen stifle?

Today I noticed that Skip's left stifle appears swollen. I'm not sure how recent this is, as I haven't been to the barn since Tuesday (but on Tuesday I know it was normal, as I clipped that area and would have noticed if something was unusual). She's not lame from what I can tell, the area...

    ADT next door to me!

I just found out that there will be an ADT 1 town over from where I board (well, will be boarding- I am moving there in a few weeks). It's an "ADT Fun Day," where the judge (Andy Marcoux) is going to critique your dressage test, and then you get to drive the test again and get a new score (you...

    She's so LAZY sometimes!

My mare Skip is driving me nuts. She has no "go" when I'm working her in the arena. She has no problem moving out on the trails or in our neighbor's large, fenced-in pasture, but getting her to respond to forward cues in the indoor is taking way too much encouragement on my part! I'm always...

    Pre-shipping care

I am shipping my mare from the midwest to east coast to be with me, after 4 long years of being apart!! I am very excited to have her here. I am a bit nervous about shipping her in the winter- she is leaving early February from WI. She is not blanketed, and used to being out in the cold all...

    Coughing issues

I had my mare shipped from WI to MA mid-October, and she developed a deep cough a week or two after she arrived. She would cough 3-6 times in a row, so loudly the neighbors could probably hear it, and then be just fine for an hour or so before coughing again. I'm boarding her, so had the barn...
