    Teaching "old horses" new tricks?

He is in good health, but could use some muscle on him(which is another reason why I want to train him to drive). He is very fine boned, will this affect him at all?

    Purina Hydration Hay

Its pretty pricey and I have seen it at my local feedstore. It would be convenient for a show, but I dont think I would use it any other time.

100 Minis Confiscated and in Need of Help

Just because they aren't starved doesn't mean they were being properly taken care of. With that many, I doubt they were getting any vet care, shots/deworming, etc. Glad they are getting new homes.

    Teaching "old horses" new tricks?

I bought a 17 year old pure falabella stallion earlier this year. I like my stallions to have a job. My other stallion is broke to drive, but my falabella has had no training. So is 17 too old to teach him to drive?

Do you put your stallions in pasture together?

Thank you guys! The new one came from a farm where he was not messed with for 3 years besides brushing and breeding... I believe all stallions should have a job, so I bought him as a project and for future breeding once I get a mare for him. My younger stallion also came from the same farm...

Do you put your stallions in pasture together?

Okay heres a question to anybody that owns more than 1 miniature stallion.... do you put them out to pasture with eachother? Theres quite a few people and mini breeders in my area that had little to no problems having their stallions pastured together. Heres a little background story on why I'm...

    Trick Training

Rearing on command, I think hes about 2 here, a little under maybe. This is him shaking, he was about 2 here. Looks REALLY butt high and ridiculous, doesnt he?? lol he was on a slope Cash standing on the mounting block with my 11 year old niece(he was licking her hand, never nips but...

    Trick Training

My junior stallion, in my avatar, is trick trained. He is 3 now, and we have had him since he was 4 months old. We started him young and we have gotten him to "shake hands" with both hooves, rear up on command(like my avatar), stand on a mounting block, give kisses, paw out how old he is, kick a...

    COLT in Trouble...Please help...

Hope he is doing okay. I understand your reluctance to take him to the vet, gas prices are crazy high and vet bills are the worst.... but if hes not getting any better, it is needed. Even a small animal vet is better than nothing. I would body clip him and give him some electrolytes in the...

    Falabellas

So I recentely purchased my first Falabella, a 34 inch 15 year old sorrel pinto stallion, registered as AMHA/FMHA and possibly AMHR. I'm ecstatic to have "Toyland Picante Flame" as part of my miniature herd, I love him to pieces! I have a couple questions..... His AMHR papers were said to be...

    Opinion on mare

I am really interested in this AMHR mare as a broodmare for my stallion, but really would like a second opinion on her to make sure I'm just not being blinded by her gorgeous color! Shes registered as a dun, but wouldn't you call her more of a buckskin? Any major conformational faults that you...

    Curious what everyone feeds

I just started my 2 minis on Purina Mini & Pony feed a month ago and they are looking GREAT, My mare just dropped her foal 4 days ago and shes on it and my 3 year old stallion is also on it and hes in the best shape hes ever been in. Shiny coats, improved hooves, and great manes/tails. They have...

Yearling Colt- not droped yet... Advice please

My 3 year old stallion had one dropped at about 2 then I had wait for the other to drop until he was almost 3. A late maturer but his attitude only slighly changed once both were dropped. We have had him since 4 months old and being able to raise him to our standards was a great thing. He will...

    Colt born today-conformation/color questions

No dark legs. She actually has light points. Like little short light "boots". lol I was honestly wondering if she was some sort of rabicano because of the roaning on her sides and her back. As for the foal, hes been getting exercise for a couple hours in late afternoon/evening when flies arent...

For those of you that board . . .

I board my 2 riding horses and 3 minis at a friends boarding barn. They get their seperate feed and stalls. Have their own pasture. I only am charged $25 per mini, per month.

    Colt born today-conformation/color questions

Took mama and colt out in the sunlight to get pics since the stall is a bit dark. Hes here! This is our first miniature foal as well as the mares first foal. Both the mare and foal were just checked out by the vet and are in good health, thank goodness! Hes out of AMHR parents but the breeder...

Thanks for replying everyone, you have been a great help. I may have some what gotten through to her.... but I am honestly thinking at this point that the mare is sterile. A friend also told her about this forum so Id like to delete this... if possible in any way? Hopefully she will come on here...
