    Too fat on basically air?!?

Yes it was normal last time The weight came from a horse scale at the vet. The height is the last hair like you said. I use the slow feed hay nets. I'll try to find a hanging scale thanks!

    Too fat on basically air?!?

Okay these are all SUPER helpful responses. I guess I thought I was already starving him. I'm afraid with less hay he'll go without forage for hours and chance getting ulcers. How much of the ration balancer and what brand? How much hay and what do you weigh it with? He's 366 pounds per the...

    Too fat on basically air?!?

We exercise on lunge line or long walks 2 times a week but can increase. I feel like less pellets wouldn't get him the nutrients he needs without grass

    Too fat on basically air?!?

Vet says he thinks he's toooooo fat. He's on a dry lot with 2 cups Nutrena special care, 2 cups grass pellet and 2 flakes of hay a day. 1 hour turnout every other day, electrolytes, prefounder vitamin in case, hydrocodone for allergies and elevate brand vitamin E....help!

    Skin condition - extremely concerned

Would it make a difference if he is fine in the winter? This only happens when it's hot and he's shed out

    Skin condition - extremely concerned

He was on the purine mini horse feed for years and I started having issues with weight and thrush on both my guys. I switched to the special care about 4 years ago and it's worked wonders for both those issues. I can't remember what started the itching other than heat. Heat makes it worse. He's...

Shelter wood, not sure if you're still on here 10 years later but I just found your reply and this is great info. I'm going to look up those blankets. My boy is miserable from those gnats

    Skin condition - extremely concerned

I need some help here. We've been struggling with skin allergies for about 5 years but they are not getting better. I took him to the University of Tennessee for skin allergies testing. After 65 test spots only 2 came back - lanolin and gnats. I avoid any sprays and have added a fan to his room...

SNOW! My AMHR Mini Stud playing and plowing like crazy in the snow in his own weird way

Oh he is!! He loves to roll anyway so when you add snow he could do this for HOURS! He is a mess. Normally he is squealing too but this time he kept quiet. We just love him.

SNOW! My AMHR Mini Stud playing and plowing like crazy in the snow in his own weird way

We rarely get much snow in Tennessee where we live so when we do my little stallion goes NUTS in it. He is the only snow plowing horse I know! He is so much fun and just LOVES life. Mini horses are the BEST. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVEGtf_e6M4

AMHR Stud color genetic info - how to get tested

I am about to take my stallion to the University of Georgia to be collected and tested for fertility. How then would I test for color carrier genetics? I already have his full pedigree with all the characteristics and heights of his ancestors, but would love to know if he carries the cream gene...

New to driving - Need a HOW TO video for harnessing and hooking to the cart

Oh and as a side note, we bought a leather harness for him, he broke it the first day because it was so cheap and flimsy. Now, at the recommendation of a driving friend I bought a Nylon "Tough-1" brand and that is the cheapest, most ill-fitting thing I have ever seen. It is getting sent back...

New to driving - Need a HOW TO video for harnessing and hooking to the cart

I am really having some trouble finding a good video of how to harness a mini. Also, how to hook the durn thing to the cart. I have looked on here and on youtube with no luck. I figured out most of it and then just one little movement and the harness I had broke! It was the cheapo indian leather...
