    disking the garlic patch

Love seeing these posts. I would like to know if anyone has used minis to drag their arena. We have a harrow that is much too heavy for my mini and requires the tractor. I have made a single tree but need ideas for the harrow. Footing is not deep and doesn't require big teeth.

How much land do I really need?

My whole property is 2.3 acres, my 3 minis whole turnout, barn, and 60x100 arena only occupy 1/4 of that, so a little over 1/2 acre. Even with 24 hour turnout there is a very low grass cover on most of the turnout and is mud free in the rainy pacific northwest. BUT my land drains like a...

    donkey driving in Sudan

I would never accuse any individual of abuse without proof. On the other hand, I see first hand so many over fed and barely worked or unworked horses here.

    donkey driving in Sudan

I'm watching a show called Long Way Down with Ewan MacGregor. They are in Sudan at the moment and they showed footage of cart donkeys, no bits, only a makeshift halter with "reins". They also showed young boys riding donkeys with no bridle or reins what so ever. I have no idea how they were...

Where to get wooden cart for CDE?

Paintpnylvr, I can't seem to post pics. Not sure why.

    Farm Progress Days 2013

Paintponylvr, love the pics! My hubby has made me a container that can be drug around to pick up rocks, or other small things. It's a plastic cement mixing tub set in a wood frame. It has skids (not sure if that's the right word for these) on the bottom with beveled edges. Havent used it for...

    Found this by accident

I remember reading that in a TTouch book, but I swear I also saw Elizabeth Taylor do that in National Velvet or some other really old black and white movie. Old wisdom revived?

Any experience with Mini Express carts?

Just in looking at the pics, for $45 more you get the wood floor plus a different spring under the seat. That might make a big comfort difference. The $495 model also appears to have a higher back. I like to feel secure so I like that feature. The $450 model looks like it might have those...

Where to get wooden cart for CDE?

Thanks sporthorsemom, I just added tape to the shafts yesterday! Please do post if you can find any seat modifications. If I can feel more secure and my husband makes a riser for the floor the cart may stay.

Where to get wooden cart for CDE?

I did also notice those Silver Penny easy entry carts. A fair price and nice options to really look fancy if you want. Shipping is also cheaper than the minicrown. I have never ridden in a cart with a leaf spring, but it has to be more comfy than those little springs under the seat on some easy...

    Farm Progress Days 2013

Nice! I have a desire to have my mini earn her keep (okay, be somewhat useful) and have her drag branches, small logs, whatever. I love to see the horses at work. Here in Washington State there will be a draft horse event at the Monroe fairground during the Evergreen State Fair. I can't wait to...

Where to get wooden cart for CDE?

Hmmm, having trouble trying to post a pic of my cart. Not sure if it's because I'm using an iPad. I did just drive in my cart this morning and the lower leg room is actually a little short for me. Puts my knees a little in the air if I don't stretch out to the slanty foot rest area. Still makes...

Where to get wooden cart for CDE?

Oh, I wanted to add that the aerocrown looks much more secure (seat wise) than my minicrown.

Where to get wooden cart for CDE?

I think I'm must be the one single person that regrets buying a minicrown. Cons - I find it heavy - The shafts a pain to adjust - The seat too high (or my lower legs too short!) - The back rest so low I think I could fly of the back if my horse lurched forward - The ride stiff and hard...
