Fallen Crest Advice? Is it hopeless?

The oil is for her coat and weight, and yes we are trying to put weight on her. Our show horses are all on the rice bran oil for one reason or another and we've seen a difference is just a short time. Of course, increasing their grain has also helped, along with conditioning.

Need a mini blanket in Iowa!

If you go to the Tough 1 site, you could probably get one shipped today. I have 5 horses clipped and some heads and necks and we live in the northeast. Everyone has a blanket or sheet on and then we take them off to work them or if it's sunny and 50 degrees. Most of the time we can take them...

Fallen Crest Advice? Is it hopeless?

We have a 4YO mare that had a fallen (crooked) crest, her dam also has a fallen crest. We have been working on the 4yo for about 2-3 months. We exercise her almost daily and give her a muscle builder plus rice bran oil, we also have increased her feed. Not too sure what strengthened her crest...

Foals born with leg problems questions?Wow hugh different in her legs at two weeks

We have had a couple of foals down on their pasterns, and our vet is just the opposite of all your responses. He believes the foal NEEDS to get exercise outside running and playing. I usually give them the run of the barn which is 56 feet and a small outside turnout in the sunshine. The foal...

Running out of ideas on aggressive mare

Mary, I remember when you first got Ruby, what a pistol the two of them. You might want to contact Melanie Greenwood, I think you know her, she is a horse chriopractor or massage therapist. She lives in NH, not far from you. You could even take Ruby to her house, as I know she is very busy...

    Nationals

Hi everyone Just thought I'd let everyone know how many friends I made at the Nationals. It was my first time there and 2 out of my 3 boys went top ten more than once. That experience was the positive of my trip. As you can tell from my "Topic Description", I was abandoned by my ride and...

How wide are the stall doors for Nationals?

Hi, I have used gates at World's every year we've been and my horses have been happy and not had any health issues. You have to remember, the facility has to "clean" each and every stall after a group has left and they are preparing for the next group, NOT. I have noticed in the past few years...

    AMHR Nationals

Hi All, Does anyone know the dates of this year's Nationals? AMHR does not have it posted yet on their web site. I need to put in for my vacation early so I can be assured of the time off. Also, what is the facility the Nationals are held in. Does anyone have a favorite hotel/motel they...

    Pattern for Foal Blankets?

I used to have a pattern that I took from a purchased foal blanket but I can't find it. This winter I used fleece dog blankets that worked very well. This year is my first winter foal and up until now have used the dog blankets. You can get them at Dover Saddlery. They sell for $9.99 during...

Skin problem - need some ideas

I had 1 yearling this Spring who had an allergy, to what we never did find out. He had already started with his winter coat but I clipped his head and neck anyway. The vet had come out for something else and checked him. Told us it was an allergy and to treat it with Batadine Solution and OTC...

Who Feeds a Bran Mash on Cold Nights?

I want to thank everyone for their responses. I hope you all don't think I feed a mash for each meal, only as a treat on the real COLD days. I too feed pelleted beetpulp morning and night, warm in the winter, cold in the summer with extra water in the winter. I feed wheat bran, as someone...

Who Feeds a Bran Mash on Cold Nights?

HI ALL We are getting a Nor-easter with blizzard like conditions and white out later this afternoon into the night here on the coast of Rhode Island. Just wondering if you feed a "bran mash" on cold raw nights and what you add to it, and how often can you feed it. Thanks, Meadow

    Interest in AMHR club

Diana, I for one am looking forward to this show. What do you think of a two day Saturday & Sunday show? And will there be stalls for the people coming from a distance? I have put you down on the calender. If you need any help organizing, let me know. Meadow Meadowbrook Miniatures

    heated hose

I saw one of those for the first time yesterday at the Northeast Equine Affair. It was out of my pocket book range @ $139.99 for 50 feet of hose. If I didn't have my husband to haul the hose in after filling outside buckets in the morning and stall buckets in the barn at night, I would also...

    Equine Jr to weanlings

I was just at the Northeast Equine Affair and stopped by the Purina booth because I'm switching my herd to Strategy. The rep from Purina gave me a "Feeding Weights of Purine Feeds for Miniature Horses" using Nature's Essentials, Strategy, Equine Sr., Adult, Jr., & Omolene products. Their...
