    ~HOW DID YOU~

We are the other Meadowind . When we moved to our farm in 1986 there hadn't been livestock here for a few years, and the pastures had turned into meadows where the deer loved to hang out. Being on the prairies, it seemed like the wind was always blowing, so we came up with the name...

    Oklahoma Tornados

Glad to hear she is okay. Sorry about her barn, hopefully help will arrive for her to have it fixed.

Has anyone heard from Velta Mcsperitt? She lives a few miles north of Seminole.

    Club Fund raisers

In the last few months, I haven't had time to check the forum as often as I'd like to. I was looking for ideas on fund raising when I came across this thread. If I had seen it sooner, I could have responded and perhaps shed a bit of light on the raffle here in Manitoba. Holly (minimor) is...

World Show / What do you find stands out?

Just wanted to comment on the music - When we attended the World Show last year, I did not really care for many of the music selections - haven't had time to watch yet this year so don't know how it compares. However, I do know of a show that has absolutely the most wonderful music played...

    Wicket Measuring Thing

Renee, the wicket that is pictured in Relic's post is the same as the one we have. I don't know if Bill would be interested in making any more or not. Do you know, Relic? All of our horses are under 35" so it hasn't been an issue for us that it doesn't measure taller. However, it could be...

    Wicket Measuring Thing

A little long, but this is our experience with a wicket. In my opinion, a wicket is a very valuable piece of equipment! In 1989, when we were first looking to purchase miniature horses, we were quite naïve and very trusting of what people told us. A breeder we met must have recognized this...

    SHOCK OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!

Kelly, you speechless?!! It is great to hear that Sweet Lips did her thing to perpetuate the Circle S name! Congratulations! We still have Circle S Buckwheat (he’s 18 this summer) as one of our lead horses in our 8 horse hitch (along with Sheep Meadow Chieftain who’s 17). We have such fond...

    Future Rule Changes AMHA/AMHR

Agreed Most of us cannot attend the annual meeting for any number of reasons: cost, work, etc. Even if we all contact our director and tell him/her how we would vote, that person still only has 1 vote. If 50 of us tell him/her how we would vote, his/her 1 vote cannot represent us all. In a...

    Interesting sets of Measurements

Yep!! The fingers weren't so nimble by the time I finished. We've got him back down to where he should be!! Belinda, you probably are measuring the base of the mane better than we did. As I mentioned, I'm sure we could have gone lower, but even these measurements suggest a couple of things...

    Interesting sets of Measurements

Yesterday was a herd health day here, deworming, louse powder, quick check over. In light of the measurement decision of AMHA and the discussion here on the board, we thought it would be interesting to take a little extra time since we had the horses in anyway. I think we could easily have...

What do you use for bedding

Some of our stalls have wood over cement and the rest have rubber mats over cement. We used straw for many years, then switched to shavings. Last year we couldn't get the shavings from our regular supplier. We decided to try flax shives, which we could get delivered to our yard at no cost...

    What I thought I bought............

Unbelieveable on 2 fronts! Firstly unbelievable that someone would sell a horse in that condition - "thin" doesn't go anywhere near describing it. : Secondly, unbelievable what you have done with this little mare since she arrived at your place. No doubt about it, she is a lucky...

    Prince

Hi Stacy, Yes you are right. When I went back through the pictures, I realized that the one of Prince was blurry and that this was the darker stallion. Prince is indeed exceptional Heather

    Prince

We had a front table that was off the side a bit. Unfortunately, with the angle, a man at the next table kept getting his head in the way so it was hard to take pictures!! It certainly was a thrill to be there. Heather

Is anyone else concerned about alternative fuels effect on us???

Our son is the Production Manager of a company here in Canada that produces feed supplements. Their company is struggling right now because raw products that they need to put into the feed are bing snapped up by the bio-diesel companies and the price is going out of sight. The last few months...

    Who's NOT going to Nationals?

We won't be going this year - our second grandbaby is due in the next 2 weeks, and grandma can't miss that!! On our way back from Minneapolis this morning, we met Tracy and Korey south of Grand Forks, headed for Nationals. Was Mary Ann travelling with them? Hoping everyone has a good time and...

Has anyone made a awning for their horse trailer?

Our son-in-law went to an RV place and got a "damaged" awning for his trailer. The only damage was some scrapes on it, but the price was significantly reduced. Sometimes "damaged" or "seconds" can work out okay.

    Calgary Stampede

Kendra, the Miniature Horse Show at the Stampede was great again this year! You, your mom, Louise and all the rest of the committee did a great job of setting it up and making everyone feel welcome. Rod enjoyed driving in the Saddle Dome too. I think we did more visiting this time than ever...

    4 days left for entries

I'm so sorry to hear about your mare Holly. And to lose the little guy on top of it was a double whammy wasn't it. I hope that is the end of your vet bills, don't need more of those. Is your mare doing okay now? Hopefully you can get out to the show for a little while on Saturday, (maybe we...
