    Dorian

Here we go again with another hurricane churning up the east coast of Florida. I am in the area of Jacksonville further inland on the west side of the St. Johns river but bordered by a large creek and hoping and praying Dorian will stay on the projected track and not hit us directly. We were hit...

    beet pulp

I need some advice about beet pulp pellets from those who use them. I have always used the shreds wet down but now they are difficult to chew for the old minis with missing teeth. When you soak the pellets, do they dissolve completely into a runny slurry or keep solid pieces that turn rubbery...

    New Projects Anyone?

How can we get this forum going again? I miss seeing everyone's projects. My eyesight has slowed me down, but I am sewing on a quilt I might be able to share before too long. What is everyone up to lately?

    hurricane Irma

I hope all in harm's way in Florida and So. Georgia will check in here. I am in No. Florida and hunkering down to ride out the storm, right now the forecast is the storm should have downgraded to a level 2 when it hits early Monday am. We were affected a year ago with hurricane Matthew, and it...

    Horse Age in Human Years

My oldest mare is 34 years old and wondered what that equals in human years. I found a calculator on line that suggests she is the equivalent of 100 years in human age. She is in pretty good shape structure wise blessed with good bones and joints, but poor teeth and doesn't shed well naturally...

    National SHow

Is anyone watching the driving classes? Does anyone have an opinion of the chariot race classes? I did not watch the pinning of the class after the rounds were done so I missed what the judges liked. But I was concerned about what appeared to be a horse become lame after all that vigorous...

I received the contest prize today in the mail and I send many thank yous to Mary Lou for such a generous box of goodies! Above and beyond for sure. There was a beautiful lead rope, a super snazzy hoof pick almost too good to use, a charming little picture frame......... and........ a horse...

Share your strange events on farm

I will start with something happening here some years ago. The horses were very restless and I kept hearing hissing sounds. Went out and looked up to see a hot-air balloon passing overhead just inches above my trees! It just missed landing in my paddock and thankfully landed in the next door...

    Cushings Medications

May I ask for some opinions from those using Pergolide on their minis versus only dosing Chasteberry?

    something in feed bag, help

I have a Cushings mare that I have been feeding Nutrena Safe Choice and she has always loved it, and eaten it heartily well wet down. Tonight she refused to eat it, kept trying to turn it out of her bowl, so I removed it and examined to find very tiny white round beads, or seeds or something...

    A little news

I feel a little hesitant because I don't like to brag, but I am so happy! I needed some good news right now, so I am sharing my happy feeling.. A major newspaper here in North Florida holds a holiday short story contest each year, and the winner gets their story published with art work by...

    Shafts height advice

Could I get some advice/opinions on the proper height of the shafts? All of my driving horses were 33" or shorter, long ago I was taught that the shafts should be adjusted so they were parallel to their body and not so forward that they extend past the horse. I keep seeing photos of shafts...

    Two Applique Quilts

This wall hanging I made several years ago is entirely hand made and hand quilted. The applique pieces were not backed, but a single layer pinned in place and sewn the basic way by using a needle to turn under the edges and hiding the stitches. Designed by me influenced by the Cotton Boll...

    Painting Gourds

Does anyone else do gourd craft? I paint gourds I have grown and dried, here are a couple that I did not turn into bird houses, painted with images of my minis. I used metallic paint on the one on the right. I seal them with clear acrylic. Photo might be too small, might have to correct.

http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb52/brassring/TNTGOOD.jpg?t=1255018917 Sadly, I have had to say good-bye to my old, beloved 27 year old stallion, SG TNT, still beautiful in body, but afflicted with a squamous cell cancer of the facial bones. He was diagnosed a year ago, went into...
