    Blessings of the Animals

Our Church had a ceremony on this past Sunday afternoon called Blessings of the animals. We borrowed a friend's horse trailer and hauled Duke, Cowboy and the dogs Buddy and Roxie up to be Blessed. The horses did great. Better then the dogs. Thanks for letting me share. The horses were a hit...

    Gelding eating droppings!!

They get fed a cup each of feed am and pm, plus hay. I have started tossing them more hay when I come home for lunch. I purchased some suppliments to add to the feed as well. I'm thinking he is bored. But I haven't caught him doing it in the last few days. I'd rather not start them on alfalfa...

    Gelding eating droppings!!

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. He is not starving, that's for sure he has started putting on a bit of weight. They each have a salt block in their shelters and we go thru them often. I did toss some hay out to them at lunch. ( I work close enought to come home daily for lunch). I forgot...

    Gelding eating droppings!!

Yes, they eat every bit. I feed them each morning around 7:15am before work and 5:15pm when I get home from work. On the weekends we let them in the yard to graze, but during the week they stay in the drylot.

    Gelding eating droppings!!

My 6 yr old gelding started eating his and the stallion's poop..... they get fed twice a day (Purina - Miniature and Pony feed + coastal/burmuda hay). Not sure why he started this nasty habit. What do you think is missing in his diet? Or is he doing it out of boredom? The gelding and...

    Unwanted in need minis

Where in Texas do you live? I know of a fella that is trying to find new homes for 5 mares and a stallion. They are located in Miles, Texas outside of San Angelo. I know you are not looking for 5, but he might make a deal on one or pair ( mother and daughter).

Before and after - what a difference.

I'm not sure what advice to give other then once the filly is weaned, there is a better chance to get her back shape. Each horse is different and their bodies change according to their body's make up (hope that makes sense). I'd still have her on grain/pellets till she gets filled out in her...

Before and after - what a difference.

I brought him home and started him on a daily feeding program (twice daily), at first I was feeding Purina Stradegy, but after Cowboy lost weight with the Pigeon Fever, the feed store owner and my vet suggested the Purina Miniature horse and pony feed. I've been using it since. Thanks for the...

Before and after - what a difference.

We feel we have made good progress with him. When we got him, he and all the other horses were out to pasture 24/7 and all of them were about as big around as they were short. We have him on Miniature Horse and Pony feed 1/2 lb 2 times plus hay daily. I hope to be able to build a round pen to...

Before and after - what a difference.

I wanted to share how my gelding name Duke is looking. I love how he has changed over the last few months. I am still working with him on his manners. He is a 4 yr old and wasn't handled much so we are learning to lead, stand tied, etc. The first two pictures are from April 2012, the next two...

New farrier - What a difference

The previous farrier left this little mares feet in bad shape, had one front taller then the rest and wouldn't bring her down any on her heels like the vet instructed. The new farrier worked with her and got them down, but didn't take so much off that her feet would hurt. He will be back in 3...

New farrier - What a difference

Hello forum family, I just wanted to share my joy. Some of you might remember I've been helping this fella with getting his mini herd ready to sell and I kept running into road blocks . He finally agreed to use a different farrier. I got a name from someone I knew and then I asked around the...

Need suggestions - helping someone sell their herd

I had a good conversation with the man on Friday. He said to me he appreciated all that I have done to help him. I told him I was not going to be able to help post his horses for sale on the sale board because the horses were in his name and I did not have a license to be a listing agent. He...

Need suggestions - helping someone sell their herd

After emailing back and forth with AMHA, they are going to finish up the mares paperwork and get it in the mail. I will do my best to help him finish up getting the paperwork done, then I am bowing out. I am worn out with trying to get him to follow up with the farrier, etc. He needs to be...
