So after driving Magic yesterday he ran away with the cart still hooked. Just like after every drive I "command" him to stand while I close the gate. I can't hold the reins while I close the gate because they are not long enough. I should just untack him and then go back and close the gate...

How do I prevent my reins from getting caught on the shafts? My horse likes to turn his head around and look at me or just overflex his neck which cause my reins to get stuck. Thanks! Lindsey
