My first CDE! Do I have everything?

Magic and I are going to our first CDE! I am very excited and very nervous. I have been reading through the rulebook to make sure I have everything I need, but there is a lot of information that is hard to sort through. I want to make sure I have the essentials. Do I need to have a chest...

    Sick parrot

It is very possible. When I took my parakeet to the vet the first question he asked was if anyone in the house had been sick. No one had, so we had to look at other things, but birds can go downhill very quickly. I would at least talk to a vet to make sure your bird stays healthy. L

    What would YOU do?

oh my...I need to read better. If you have someone watching the horses that will make sure he is safe and comfortable then go. If he was mine, and if it was likely that he would not be there when I got back I would not leave. But If you can feel comfortable with him home and you gone, then go. L

    Good farrier in southern CA?

I was in a similar situation recently and I asked my vet clinic...They said that they cannot recommend someone, nor could they tell me someone I didn't want...It was a liability thing. L

Has anyone put a fat cat on a diet?

Corn starch also works like 'kwik stop' to stop the bleeding on toenails.

    Horse wormer and a dog

One time my 60lb. boxer (one of the 'white feet, don't treat' breeds) got a full tube and chewed it. Luckily she didn't chew it too badly, but she did ingest some. I think she got about 100 horse pounds worth (just a rough guess, I did not use the tube after) and she was fine. I kept a very...

Rosie was off today. Vet says mild colic.

I am glad to see she is feeling better! Just another thought- It is also coming spring, sometimes when mares are getting ready to come into heat they get crampy, which can look like mild colic (or full colic if you have a super sensitive mare). L

    Question on Turnout Sheet

I had an adjustable blanket like this for Magic when he was little...they are not as good as they may seem. Weatherbeeta make blankets in small sizes, you would probably be better off finding one that is specific to his size and not adjustable. L

    I'm SO EXCITED!!! and WWYD?

Thanks! I thought that we would not want to use it. I really know after pulling it myself, even just moving it from the truck to the garage. I can definately feel the difference in weight. I'm still excited! L

I have talked to her before but I cant hear her?

It is hard to tell in pictures...My gelding is doing kinda the same thing. I know there is something off about him, but it is hard to pinpoint where it is. With your mare in the pictures, she does seem to favor her left hind (at first I was looking at the left front, shoulder specifically)...

I have talked to her before but I cant hear her?

Which leg? Do you think front or back? Do you have a picture of her standing the other way...all pictures are of her left side, do you have pictures of her right side, just standing, like the one in front of the barn? Maybe some for her troting, without her blanket not in the snow?

Magic and I are going to our first clinic! What do we need to know?

Thanks! I am going to be so nervous, no matter how much I try not to be, but my neighbor will be there to video it. I think Magic will be up to it, we have been doing a lot to keep in condition and his blankets are being washed so I can clip him (luckily it is warm here, so he wont freeze even...

Magic and I are going to our first clinic! What do we need to know?

So as the title says, Magic and I are going to our first clinic. We are driving with Hardy Zantke at Equine affaire in Pomona, CA on Feb. 4th. (If your in the area, stop by and say hi!) I am confidant in my horse being safe...I hope I am not too nervous. I have been to riding clinics, but...

    Boxers and their gas...........Any Ideas???????

I have heard parsley works well. Just a bit with their dinner makes them less smelly. My boxer only gets really smelly when she gets something she isn't supposed to, so we make sure that we leave the room if she got anything bad. She is also on a real good food, which helps. L
