    Your First Miniature.....

When I first set eyes on Blue, I was 13. He was just under three months old. He came home with me in the back of our van when he was three months old. He was gelded as soon as he dropped. Haha! He will turn 9 years old this coming May, and I just turned 22. It's hard to believe we have been...

    Found a dog...

Hi all, My mother and I found a puppy. He is a medium sized boy, but very sweet. He has been kept away from our other dog for the last few days in case he is sick, but he seems to be healthy. If no one claims him, we will be keeping him (or at least, we want too!). Problem is, our Beagle is...

    tattoos

Thank you very much! I really love it. And it is rather big! It took 3 hours to complete. And let me tell you, the worst part had to be the initial pain before you are used it, and when it went over my spine. I'm excited to get my next one, just need the funds.

    tattoos

I have one on my back. It is very special to me, as it is a portrait of my first mini. I plan to get one of my minis name on one shoulder too. She recently passed, just about a year ago, and I miss her terribly. And a small breast cancer ribbon on my other shoulder, in honor of my mother who...

    Anyone from the Oklahoma area?

Thank you for the information! My aunt lives in Moore, OK. My horses would be with our friend about 45 minutes from my aunt's place, (not sure which direction!). My boyfriend (He is going to ask me to marry him next year, maybe sooner, when he can afford the ring, haha) would be moving out...

    Eagle isn't well

If the blood came from the small intestine, the blood in the feces would look blackish, old, and digested. This blood is frank red, which means it either came from the large intestine (probably somewhere toward the end of the tract) or a fissure from the hard feces. I would watch him and...

    Anyone from the Oklahoma area?

Hi all, Is anyone from the Oklahoma area? I am looking to move there after I graduate from college. I have an aunt that lives there, and I would be able to bring my little herd of miniatures with me. But I was just looking for some information! Is there a great need for certified vet...

    Lameness in my mare

Lifts the toe and rests on her heel just a little bit. It is a very faint change in her posture. Hoof looks completely normal, sole and wall, everything. She was last trimmed at the beginning of Sept. I will see if I can somehow get a video of her and upload it. Any ideas can help, at least...

    Lameness in my mare

I was thinking along the same lines, but when I manipulated her shoulder she acted like she was in no pain at all. I am just plain old confused. Because if she had pulled something, wouldn't I get some sort of reaction when I manipulated the area?

    Lameness in my mare

I have a 14 year old mare that suddenly came up lame on her right front hoof about two weeks ago. She just limps, it is worse the harder the ground gets, but there is no heat, swelling or tenderness anywhere in the hoof, leg or body that I can feel. A friend of my mine thought abscess, so I...

    Tucker is sick.

Sending prayers for you and Tucker! I know that I had a mare that presented your horse's symptoms... She was tested for Erlichia. Turned out negative. Vet could find nothing, all vitals normal. Then one day, one of the other members of the herd had extreme nose discharge, fever, etc. etc...

    Filly with Cleft Pallat

I am very sorry for your loss... I know the decision is very, very, hard. I wish you all the best. I had a miniature with cleft palate. She lived for seven years with the condition. She was a beautiful, small, and magnificent. The day I lost her, a piece of my heart chipped off and went...

Thanks everyone for the help and information on this feed (and others!) It is true you are always learning. My boy and I will work on it, and he will look good in no time.

Purina Miniature Horse and Pony Feed

My neighbor, who is a equine nutritionist, suggested I do it. I didn't know it could be harmful. So far no trouble with it, but I will stop it until I can do more research. Thank you! He is 37"... Very tall and refined. I will keep your measurements in mind and keep tweaking things...

Purina Miniature Horse and Pony Feed

I have been feeding for a little over a month or two now. My horses look great. My yearling does fantastic on this feed. However, I have a SUPER hard-keeper gelding... he just won't gain any weight, no matter what diet. He is fed alone, away from the other herd members. Right now, he is on...

    Hyperthyroidism in horses?

Does anyone have experience with hyperthyroidism in horses? I have a gelding that remains quite thin despite having a good appetite. He is a more refined, taller B-sized boy. He turned eight years this year. When he was a yearling, he was a gangly, pudgy boy and as he got older he was in...

    Equine Herpes virus outbreak

All my horses were infected last winter. All seven. One mare died. My yearling filly showed the neurological form this spring after a bad episode of enteritis/sand colic. None of them have ever left their pasture. I hope everyone's horses stay safe!
