    Tough 1 Grazing Muzzles

Thank you so much! My little guys get too fat on our pasture and hopefully these will slow them down. They are little eating machines!

    Feral Rescue in Foal

Take a t-shirt or hat that you have worn a lot and hang it in her stall. It needs to be one you have worn for some time so it has your scent on it. This will really help her get used to you.....just leave it hanging there for a couple months. I also like to sit with them while they eat their...

    young stallion behavior

Bad behavior (rearing, biting, kicking) must be corrected swiftly and firmly - you have 3 seconds to correct him. Rearing is dangerous and I do not tolerate that kind of behavior with any of my horses. Miniatures are cute but they can still hurt you. I would geld him, but I'm not sure that will...

colic - need any help you can give me

Sounds like ulcers..... Ulcergard, give for 30 days even if your horse improves. It takes at least 30 days for ulcers to completely heal. The human version does not work as well for horses, use Ulcergard which is formulated for equines. Here is a rebate link -...

    Underweight mare

If she were my mare this is what I would do and please understand, this is just my opinion, others may disagree with me. *Separate them, immediately! *Change her feed to a high fat / high protein feed - I do not like the Purina Miniature Horse and Pony feed and no longer use it at all. Change...

Need thoughts how to keep a mini drinking water.

I use Apple flavored electrolytes in their water bucket - if they won't try it, syringe a small amount in their mouth. Once they taste it, they usually decide they love it and will drink from the bucket....

    Eye problem--at wit's end

I love Vetericin Eye Wash and use it any time my horses have eye issues and I also use it on any cuts, scrapes, etc. Not sure if it will help your problem but it is worth a try if you haven't already done so.....

Possibly pregnant mare wont eat grain

Ulcers.... Treat with Gastrogard or Ulcergard for a full 30 days so the ulcer can completely heal. Do not stop the meds just because she shows improvement - the ulcer needs 30 days to heal completely. I would not give grain for at least a couple weeks, grass is fine or alfalfa hay.

    Color confusion!!

I think she looks like a silver dapple, aka silver black. But, looks can be deceiving..... I had a palomino that looked like a silver bay, so much so that I had her tested - twice! I thought they must have made a mistake when they tested her. She was a Palomino, negative for silver.....
