This little dear heart is by Marti Gras. I got her 11 years ago from Susan Hopmans (rip). Just love how sensitive this horse is.

Clicker training, who uses it and do you find it helpful?

Cassie, since you've been open to the topic, I'd like to add a bit more. I wanted to mention is the use of a marker signal or a click in your training. There are many people who use food reinforcers when they are doing halter training. They use the food as a lure, they try to coax the horse...

Clicker training, who uses it and do you find it helpful?

Cassie, there is a wealth of free info. online. Karen Pryor has a site that describes many techniques and tools, and although they're for dogs, the concepts are the same. The thing you want to learn is that if you start with something the horse WANTS, then you can use it to reinforce things you...

Clicker training, who uses it and do you find it helpful?

Cassie, there is some more fantastic information you can really use. There is a way to make a secondary reinforcer (scratching)) be very close to the strength of a primary reinforcer (food) when you are working with a young horse. This window is open to you now, where it might not be as open in...

Clicker training, who uses it and do you find it helpful?

Cassie....if you get a chance check out Peggasus09 on YouTube. I've got lots of videos, some for entertainment, some educational, all about clicker training. I'd love to know if you think there's one in particular you find helpful.

Clicker training, who uses it and do you find it helpful?

Cassie, just wanted to jump in here. I am a professional that uses clicker training almost exclusively. I have achieved profound results using the technique, both with full sized and minis. I've also used the technique to rescue some very troubled horses, dangerous horses or horses who had...

    Painting mini

Oh boy do I know that one. At least once a session he gets the brush caught on the edge of the canvas and launches paint everywhere. Very fun. Neat that you can share the experience. It's interesting.

McKee is the mini that's always keeping me on my toes. We've added a new direction to his training that has been a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy this video of him:

As long as we're sharing feel good horse videos, thought I'd post the latest. Some of you will recognize McKee, Handsome, Mantra, and Magnified from other videos. My filly, the little buckskin is Moonshadow. Can't believe it's been 3 years since I posted about her. Hope you enjoy. Peggy Hogan...

    Pleeease help

Wanted to update the Handsome file: Vet saw him and did xrays today. As you predicted, the antibiotics have been continued. I'll know more once the xrays are read. I should post a picture of his thing, it is really quite amazing. Thanks to all who are helping me with this.

Thanks for all prayers and words of encouragement. I wonder if there is an archive on this issue?

    Pleeease help

I could really use some input from those who've experienced a dental issue with their mini. Handsome has a molar root that apparently has become infected and has ruptured through the bottom of his jaw. To be clearer, the tooth has not ruptured, but the infection from the tooth created this "blow...
