    The Buisiness Side Of Breeding

Let's be honest, most of us consider our miniatures to be our hobby and while it is fun, most of us (or at least our money conscious husbands) would like to break even or better yet, make money while enjoying this hobby! So let's get a little serious for a moment. Who here has actual broke down...

    Phantom Pregnancy & Milk PH

For those of you who have dealt with a phantom pregnancy, I am wanting to know if their milk PH drops like a normal mare who is open? Or would it be testing in the high 7's - 8's

    Stall Weaving & Fence Pacing

Thanks Chandab, at least I know I am not feeding him too little of the feed. I wanted to be 100% sure on the amount. Helicopter, I don't think that is the issue since he has pretty much always been out at pasture with mares as a breeding stallion except for as a yearling when he was shown.

    Stall Weaving & Fence Pacing

Okay I wanted to do an update on my boy as well as ask for some advice. First of all, he is still improving on the stall weaving and pacing. I moved him to my other barn that has 95% visibility between stalls as well as a mesh wire covered window so he can still see outside of the barn and that...

    Stall Weaving & Fence Pacing

I wanted to check in with yall and give you an update on the little man. I am happy to report that he has virtually STOPPED pacing the fence and has started to get better about weaving in his stall. He has been on the ulcer meds & stomach soother for about 4 days now and we have switched him...

    Stall Weaving & Fence Pacing

Will any B1 supplement do? Do you have any recommendations? I will see if I can get him eating some alfalfa. The good news is I have found an equine dentist that will float his teeth so hopefully I can get that done soon....they are supposed to be calling me to schedule him in.

    showing mares

Have you tried something small you can hold in your hand that makes an interesting noise to see if that helps? Something to catch her attention and perk her ears up?

    Stall Weaving & Fence Pacing

First of all, I want to say that I have never dealt with a stall weaver or fence pacer, but now that I have acquired one - I now know how difficult owning one is! So please be patient with me, as I literally know nothing about handling this type of situation. Three weeks ago I was given a...

She told me she can do it as early as 18 days, but I was wanting to see what the general concensus of the breeders on here do

    When To Ultrasound Mares

I finally have found a vet in my area that can ultrasound my mares and this year I am wanting to take advantage of being able to do this. My question is, after hand breeding, how many days after the first date of breeding do you do your first ultrasound and if in foal, when do you do subsequent...

Feeding Beet Pulp & Hay cubes

I have a show horse gelding that I have on the same diet that he was on last year with his previous owner, where he won 3rd in his halter class at Nationals. He is a 4 year old 34" shetland blend gelding. The thing is, I failed to get measurements for each. He is currently getting 4 cups 13%...

    Building Muscle

I am looking to see what exercises everyone does with their minis over the winter so they are ready for showing come spring. I am not looking to add supplements for muscle, I am wanting to increase muscle through good nutrition and exercise. My show horses for next year are currently on 13%...

Training for Jumper & Hunter classes

Thanks for all of the advice! I do have another question however, do manes and tails have to be braided for the hunter classes or is that optional? Quite honestly I've never braided a horses mane or tail in that fashion as i come from a western riding background.....so if I can avoid having to...

    Show Attire

For those if you who show in the AMHA/AMHR circuit, where is a good place online to buy show clothes? Treating Ulcers in Weanlings

Also, I wanted to ask what the maximum amount of the alfalfa pellets, calf manna and alfalfa hay you recommend feeding a weanling? Considering he has lost some weight I want him to gain weight so I was thinking of maximum of 3 cups alfalfa pellets and 3 cups calf manna twice per day as the...

    Treating Ulcers in Weanlings

Well so far so good, CJ ate up his 1 cup of alfalfa pellets, 1 cup of calf manna, alfalfa hay and dose of daily dewormer last night. I'm going to try to work him up to 2 cups of each morning and night over the next few days. Hes been getting the aloe vera juice twice daily and maybe that's...
