    Our New Miniature Horse Trailer

I love your new mini trailer. Very nice! I asked my husband many times why couldn't you use an enclosed trailer for horses? I just figured they weren't sturdy or safe enough, but if the dealer can make that conversion, I guess it is OK? I'll have to look into that ;)

    Astarte Miniatures, splash of color,

Thanks for the reply. I was not familiar with the name 'Astarte' (here in Florida). I guess they were up there in the NE area? I was wondering what the sire (Astarte's Splash of Color) and the dam (Rocking Horse Golden Girl) looked like. So, the mare was 'old style'...does that mean heavier...

    Astarte Miniatures, splash of color,

I'm looking at a little stallion called Astarte's Splashes Golden Bandit, AMHA A180469, AMHR 283588T sire: Astarte's Splash of Color dam: Rocking Horse Golden Girl Are these good lines? You think he'd produce a good baby? I have a Blueprint mare w/ Little Kings on top. I'm thinking they...

Mare Pictures - What's going on?

Today is the first day the bumps were in front of the udder. Seems like it moved from her udder to in front of it. I know she looks heavy. I see the fat pads on her. She is on a dry lot, hay 2x a day, and Safe Performance feed, 5 oz, 2x a day. I feed them both the same and my gelding is not...

Mare Pictures - What's going on?

Around May 24th, my mare started acting differently and I noticed a change in her udder. She is now producing milk (white). I checked it yesterday with some pool test strips (nothing). They are kinda old, though. I left her open this season. She has not left my property. However, a neighbor...

    LETS SEE EVERYONES STALLIONS

Question about your little guy with his first clip of the year. Is he a silver bay? I'm curious because my mare and her son (gelding) are both silver bay, but when she is clipped she is not light colored like the horse in your pic...but when I started clipping my gelding once, he was that...

    Little Kings Phantom Buckeroo

Does anyone know if this horse is black or smokey black?

    Seal Bay Roan

OK, Sabino roaning. I wasn't thinking Sabino because she has all black points on her legs. Her mom does have the white chin, hind socks and irregular blaze. From another thread I understand that one blue eye means frame or splash. I guess I'll have her tested for Sabino, LWO, Agouti...and...

    Totally Stupid Blue Eyes Question

One blue eye means what? splash or frame genes? My mare (silver bay) has had 2 foals by 2 different stallions...and both have one blue eye. Of course, it won't matter much on the gelding, but my filly has one blue eye, too. Does that mean she carries splash or frame genes? I'm confused.

    Seal Bay Roan

What are the white hairs coming in on the seal bay if not roan? I'm not finished trimming her. I had to stop. We were both tired. It was ALOT of hair! I'll take pictures of her after I wash her up and finish trimming. This is her Dad...

    Seal Bay Roan

Clipped off massive amounts of winter woolly hair from my little seal bay filly and it looks like she's going to be a seal bay roan. Very pretty dark chocolate face (w/ star) with light chocolate body, black points on legs, black mane and tail. Mom is Silver Bay (chestnut) and Dad is Bay...

Lines of color around butt area

She must have gotten that from her Mom. The baby has a few white hairs on her muzzle and white hair on both sides of tail head. Is that a sign she's going to roan? BTW, that's her half brother in the pictures with her. (my gelding changed color 3 times before his final color. this is why I...

Lines of color around butt area

Have you seen light colored hair lines around the butt area like this? The stripe of hair closest to her 'girl parts' looks light buckskin. She has white hairs on both sides of top of tail head and a little sprout of white on muzzle and in nostril (as seen in last picture with her 1/2 brother)...

    trouble getting milk

It was 9/06 the last time we had a foal here. I do not recall my colt having any trouble getting milk. My new little filly (born Monday) seems to struggle to get latched on, comes off very easy, and Momma gets frustrated and kicks her away. It seems like she had a very visible bag w/ my 2006...

New Filly in the herd this morning

Thank you for letting me share my excitement, and Thank You for all the nice comments. Momma and baby are amazing. They are both being very good girls about being handled. I've been able to do everything I needed to without a fight or incident...and I've even been able to spend fun-time...

New Filly in the herd this morning

Thanks! I think the sire is called a mahogany bay...but when he's not clipped, he looks like a sooty buckskin to me. She definitely has the sooty, or smutty factor going on. She also has a black line down her back. She's about 2 1/2 boards high when against the back of the stall. The...
