Build A Bear shoes for larger minis?

Thanks for the input! The vet wrap will be all I need for traction.... he's been inside before, although I know for sure that it is a slippery floor where we are going this time. Does anyone use manure bags for this sort of thing? Luckily I've not had an issue yet, our visits have been short...

Build A Bear shoes for larger minis?

This is a "look cute" sort of thing, and thinking it may help with traction for school visits.

Build A Bear shoes for larger minis?

I have not actually measured his feet, but I am considering finding some "shoes" for him to wear on our public outings. He's a 36" mini...so not a real little guy. I have seen posts about these shoes (certain kinds) doing GREAT for their minis, and wondering if a B size mini might be too big...

Sharing some Holiday "Magic" with my mini

We brought plastic store bags and a dust pan....that's what I always bring when we take one of the minis with me somewhere. We had a GREAT time, and Magic looked totally adorable! Although, unfortunately it was raining pretty good the whole time we were there. So I don't think turn out was...

    Mini horse trailer

I would really love something small, just for hauling one, maybe two. We have a 16' stock trailer, and it's just overkill when I take one somewhere. I have one mini donkey who goes on outings for a church, and I have a mini gelding I take trick or treating every halloween, and just last...

Sharing some Holiday "Magic" with my mini

Thanks! I kept getting phone calls this morning saying that they were talking about Magic on the radio....hoping for a big turnout.... http://www.wiba.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=118857&article=10639625 I have to admit, after today's big news, my heart isn't where it was.....but...

Sharing some Holiday "Magic" with my mini

One of our horses, "Magic," a black AMHR 12 year old gelding, is going to accompany me this Saturday bell ringing for the Salvation Army. I'm working on putting his holiday attire together, he ought to be quite cute! I have had Magic since he was 2, and he was my first mini. I trained him to...

    Feeds & feeding minis question

With hay prices skyrocketting this year, and not near as much off our fields as we're used to, not only did we have to buy extra hay, but we invested in Cinch Chix haynets. We have a round bale net for our big horses, and bought their "west coast bale" net for our minis...it holds two small...

    mini horses as guide animals

I'm glad I'm not alone....I thought maybe I was nuts! I, too, saw it on FB, and was surprised about all the people who loved the idea...I was at the time the only one who did not. I'm just sad for the horses....

    mini horses as guide animals

I'm just curious what other mini horse enthusiasts think of using minis as guide horses? Seems a lot of people are for it.... the longer lifespan being a biggie, which makes sense. Enlighten me! I don't breed or show, I have minis as pets....since getting my first one 10 years ago. I have...

    foal with entropion

I had a QH foal born with entropion several years ago, and I had to have the vet stitch her eyelid to correct it. One little stitch is all it took. Until this foal, I'd never even heard of it....

Trick or Treating with the mini

Yes....the cape will get shortened, for sure! Actually, after those pictures, I took safety pins and hooked the corners up underneath to the saddle pad. It actually was really nice...because he didn't have the issue of stepping on it, and it still flowed over his butt and looked cool, but...

Trick or Treating with the mini

Not that I'm aware of....I had the suggestion of using this mean looking pumpkin...but we went with the plastic one simply because it was friendlier looking...and I didn't want any kids getting scared. My gosh....some of the kids' costumes I saw though....wow....if they weren't scared by those...

Trick or Treating with the mini

Thank you! After using it, it will require some modifications for next year, but overall, I was very happy with it! And it was a HUGE hit! I'll share some pics I took while on the horse! He's such a great little boy! And completely homemade, we didn't have to buy a thing!

Trick or Treating with the mini

I said the same thing! My dog dressed up as a horse.....people got a laugh out of that! I'll have pics after it's all over, of course...and I'll share them. I'm going to get some pics this afternoon before we go too, if I have someone to hold him while I snap some pics. He really does seem...

Trick or Treating with the mini

I thought I'd share...almost every year we take one of our minis, Magic, trick or treating with us. It started the first year with the idea that I wanted to have some fun while my son did...so I hitched Magic up to his cart, threw on a pair of devil horns around his head, and put glow sticks on...

    Giving your own yearly shots...

I give my own shots as well, I buy them from Country supply, Valley Vet, Jeffers...wherever I find the better prices at the time. I've had good luck with all. If you only have a small number of critters, you don't have to buy a 10 dose vial, you can either go in on a vial with a friend or two...
