Happy Thanksgiving to Those Who Celebrate :-)

We decided not to go to my sister-in-laws (because she was having 25 people) and stayed home instead. Gotta say we had the best turkey ever!!!!! My husband butterflied it and cooked it on the grill with smoke.

    Your Drive Day

Exactly!!! My husband tried to hit one of the dogs with the whip but missed. He only had a split second to connect before hanging on to the reins and half halting poor Annie with the dogs chasing and barking at her heels! I wonder if she would have stopped the bolt sooner if I was driving...

    Your Drive Day

They are pretty clueless. It might be because they just see ponies they don't think there could be danger. Their dogs are insane though. No training at all. What concerns me is that they often get out when the neighbor's aren't home.

    Chewing Wood

betwys, I would be interested to know more about your miniature horses and how you have managed to keep them on pasture 24/7 over the years. I think that would be the desired way for all of us here on the forum! My horses are not kept in stalls but are on a large dry lot with walk in shelters...

    Your Drive Day

My little buddy came over today. I drove Rocko before she got here because I've decided I am the only one who will be driving him until he is fully trained. Then I hitched Annie and drove her for a half hour and she drove her for over half an hour. We were going to put her away and my husband...

    Body Language

Yup, they will rest their head over the neck of another horse they like. Consider yourself loved!!!💗

    Chewing Wood

Last week I heard some gnawing and when I investigated, it was Annie! I have heard they can start doing what they see others doing. In all my time with horses I've never had this happen. We put metal corners on every wood building structure they can access and then I used the vaseline and...

And now we have thrush... 🤦‍♂️

Great picture! I like the way you are holding her there. Looks like you are keeping your left hand warm in the process. She is a cutie!

    Your Drive Day

Marsha, Hope the new meds do the job! What a pain. Literally! I've never ponied my horses with my golf cart. Afraid I'd run them over. Do you have any how-to tips?

    Acorns!

Congratulations on your new pony! What's her name? I don't have experience with sight issues so will be interested in following your journey. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your new girl!

    Drive Me Buggy 2020 Hours

30 minutes driving Rocko today. Was out of town this weekend so he got a nice break. The stronger he gets the more forward he is becoming and the easier everything is getting for him.

    PVC Training Cart Ideas

You can have her on a lead and have another person drag that behind her (not attached) at first to get used to the sound. Then progress to attaching it. Take everything slow adding the next step when she is ready.

    Drive Me Buggy 2020 Hours

30 minutes driving Annie today. I had to share her, but she did so well with both of us. When one drove her the other drove the golf cart so she could get used to it flying around her. She was a rockstar! I take back everything I said about her pushy mare attitude the other day. lol

Is there a faster speed in the "walk" mode?

It's so good have these discussions about driving, especially for those that are in areas without in-person resources! I highly recommend Andy Marcoux from Coachman's Delight.com You can go to his website and there are articles to read and also downloadable lessons for small fees. I made myself...

Is there a faster speed in the "walk" mode?

I am working on this with one of my horses. When we first begin I let him amble out to the training area getting relaxed on a somewhat loose rein. Then while picking up and maintaining good contact I say "Walk up!" In a short up beat manner. When he increases in speed I give a little on the...

    Your Drive Day

40 minutes driving Rocko today. He spooked a little at some cows but also encountered an excited dog and then a truck leaving our property but held it all together. We have been working on standing still during grooming and he did really well today.

    Your Drive Day

I think it's the depth they are unsure about. Several of my horses have pawed the water checking it out even if I'm standing in it. I had on rubber boots yesterday and the muck underfoot was trying to suck my boots off! I think they are unsure if the footing will be stable also when they...

    Your Drive Day

Our neighbor ran her water for a couple of days and filled up part of our ditch. So on tuesday I tried to drive Rocko through it and he just skirted it and we went up the side of the ditch. He had never driven through water before. It rained yesterday so there was still a lot of water so I...
