    Impatient ponies and pawing

Nope not related. We brought a mare in this past October and she was fine the first several months now that they have been stalled in the same barn across from the pawer and she has now decide to start the same habit. She is no where near as bad as the other though.

    Impatient ponies and pawing

We have an impatient girl that paws the ground. Of course this is usually around feed time, while standing tied etc. The problem is she is teaching her bad habits to others. I have tried leaving her tied for longer periods of time, not going into her stall to feed until she stops etc with no...

    Food aggression

Thankfully so far the only problem I have had was one of my girls slipped into the same stall with her out of confusion (used to be her stall ) which in-sued a full out kicking war. Other then that she has been fine. I feed her in a stall with her trough at the door so no one disturbs her while...

    Food aggression

Thanks. So far I personally haven't really had a problem with her, but previous owners had a problem with her kicking if you tried to walk into the stall while she was eating. I have only had her a few days and so far the only major problem I had was when one of my other Minis slipped into her...

    Help!

Ok everyone I need help with a mini problem. My stud has started scratching all the hair off his neck, face and a little on the side of his barrel. He was fine 2 weeks ago. I have bathed him and seen no signs of little bugs. I don't understand why he is rubbing it off but apparently he is only...

    R-E-S-P-E-C-T

I am trying to train my filly for halter class and we have several problems going on.. Of course we are struggling with standing. But I found a great older article on here about training for halter. One thing I didn't find was how to get her to respect my space. I admit she has been my baby and...

    Breeding and the grey gene

My mares are between 29 and 36 inches tall. He is a fallabella stud. I am just concerned about getting him because he is a grey appaloosa. I was making reference to the shetland and fallabella to see if breeding triumphed color. I would love to have a fallabella in my herd but I cant decide if...

    Breeding and the grey gene

Would you breed your appaloosa to a grey appaloosa? Does size and confirmation matter? As in if the stud would be shetland or falabella would that make it less of a concern? Or do you just avoid grey in your breeding program altogether?

    Appaloosa Breeders and CSNB

Thanks everyone for your advice. He stays stalled most of the time especially at night so I guess I will need to devise some sort of night light for him.

    Appaloosa Breeders and CSNB

My stud which I would say is classified as a lace pattern app has these characteristics. He is a buckskin with some solid white coloring on his hips with no spots. The only reason I even started digging was like you said a night time feeding and noticing he was very timid and had a hard time...

    Appaloosa Breeders and CSNB

I was wanting to get the Appalossa breeders opinion on CSNB (Congenital Stationary Night Blindness) Does any of your stock have this disorder and if so how do you try to stop it from being passed on to the foals? For everyone that may not know about this disorder, it effects the horse's night...
