If it disappeared then she was able to pass it. If she does not seem distressed I would not worry about it yet.
Is she gaining weight normally? Is this a maiden mare? Some maiden mares don't produce enough milk.
Or if this a mare that just doesn't produce enough milk this will make foals seem...
I was always told to wait 30 to 60 days to let hay finish curing before feeding it. By vets and experts.
If straight grass I would at least wait 2 weeks. For alfalfa, I would wait at least 30 days.
When you measure cannon bones, you measure from the middle of the knee to the cornet band (top of hoof). Your colt does have long legs but with out knowing the measurement it is hard to tell.
