I never work to "time frames" as such, whether it be a single, particular lesson, or the entire process from beginning to end. The horse always lets me know, and it is up to me to be paying attention and listening in order to get the best results. This is one of the facets of training that I...
Probably the main reason we got into miniatures. The first time we saw his picture, it was "I want one like that!" And we are lucky enough to have a tiny part of him, in one of his great grandsons.
Rest in Peace Buckeroo, you surely deserve it. Deepest sympathies to the Eberths, I can't...
Thanks again everyone, lots of good suggestions
He doesn't chomp the bit but he does mouth it lightly. And because of his already plentiful supply of saliva, I was steering clear of anything with copper in it. His wolf teeth have already been taken care of (from memory, he had none ... if he...
Thanks for your replies.
Myrna, yes his teeth are due for a check but he had no wolf teeth to remove at his last visit, and his teeth were very well done then (12 months ago). So teeth could be contributing, but I don't feel they are a major issue. His bit size was measured at the same time...
I have a 4 yr old gelding who has a bit of an issue with his bit salivation ... he salivates well, too well, and instead of letting it simply drop out of his mouth, he swallows it, coughs/chokes on it, and sometimes it ends up coming out his nose! Not pretty in the show ring ... He has only...
Lol Victoria Heard of a similar thing in dogs, but not horses In dogs, it's often referred to "snow nose" and huskies are among the breeds affected.
Helen, I wouldn't be worrying too much, if he is otherwise fine, it's probably just a juvenile pigment thing
When Pallys are new, they are...
This is an interesting thread
As everyone else has commented, it is really difficult to tell from a single picture, and without knowing the horse's temperament with regard to what sort of driving he would be suited to.
I have a foal photo of one of my boys that might suggest he would make a...
Yes Joanne, I understand that He cannot pass on bay in any form, it would have to come from the mare.
Aren't colour genetics fascinating? So many possibilities, especially in miniatures.
My smokey cream is Ee aa CrCr ... he is black based but carries red, and is therefore able to produce palominos if bred to a mare also carrying red. He cannot produce perlino unless bred to a mare that carries agouti.
This is my smokey cream as a foal.. I was fairly sure when I first saw him that he was smokey cream, and subsequent DNA testing confirmed that.
He is also that "coffee" colour, hence his name Chino
In comparison, my cremello (Latte) was always as white as the driven snow.
Both are by the...
I've always liked the Double Dilute site, it certainly helped me to understand the difference between all the creme dilutions.
Joanne, is your wee guy a smokey cream?? Sure looks like it What a little doll!
Thank you Sue I love him too, he's such a floater, really nice to sit behind Not competed yet, through various circumstances, but I can't wait to get him out!
He was in Queensland, Australia at the time, in winter, so too warm to be fully coated!
Jerald do a wooden EE cart, although I'm not sure if that's the type you are looking for. I have one, it's a lovely little cart for training and mucking around in It's about 10 years old now, and I've only had to replace wheel bearings so far
