Transition from dry lot to pasture....opinions please

I don't think honestly they will have a problem, none of them have an issue with grass, it is me probably over thinking things again! The reason I think they might be ok is that we are not talking plush grass at this point, it has snowed off and on here and it is not full of that spring sugar...

Transition from dry lot to pasture....opinions please

We are ready to move the minis to their new pens and barn. They are essentially going from a dry lot (they had very minimal grass, but ate grass all summer several times per week for about 2-3 hours at a time when we tied them out) it is fall in Wisconsin, has froze several times, the grass is...

    Hoof turned out, cow hocked?

Thanks ladies, the farrier was out today, trimmed her and said exactly what you guys are saying. He said to stop worrying about her, she has so much growing to do and not to worry until she is 2. If she has problems at that time we can work on things then if we need too!

    Hoof turned out, cow hocked?

Hello Everyone- I was working with Tilly today and really noticed she is turning her left rear hoof out. I immediately thought she hurt herself, I am weaning her right now. No injury, no warmth, no pain, no lameness and she can surely run yet. My dad whom as had horses his entire life, said...

Dry Lots...how big? Pictures of new barn in the process..

The entire area with the paddocks with be aproxmately 100x100 for the 5 minis. We have sixteen acres of field, that I could do a pony run around, that would help salvage the rest of that acreage that we bale. I do let the gelding in the dry lock nibble on grass in the evening when we walk.

Dry Lots...how big? Pictures of new barn in the process..

We are in the process of finishing up our new miniature horse barn, we are down to figuring out the pasture, paddocks, etc. We will be fencing in a pasture for them to run and graze in, but they will not be in that all day long. We will turn them out at night for a few hours, I do not give...

I need to wean my first mini, advice would be greatly appreciated!

Well I have officially weaned them and they have been seperated for over 24 hours. Though I am sure I did this different than others have, but at this time it is working for us. Tilly was with the other mare, but that mare was not very nice to Tilly and kept trying to bite her. I then...

I need to wean my first mini, advice would be greatly appreciated!

Okay-Thanks for your advice- I can seperate their stall in the barn so they can touch noses but that would be about it, there would be a fence between them in the pasture, but again they can touch noses. I get so many different opinions on the goats, they have been with Tilly since the day she...

Hello Everyone- Little Tilly is 5 months old, and I need to start weaning her, I am in the process of finishing up our new barn and without that being finished I can not wean her, it should be ready within the next 3 weeks or so. I only have two options of who I can put with Tilly and one of...

    Sassy behavoir in little filly...

Tilly will be three weeks on Sunday, she loves people but is pretty sneaky! You can be loving her up, she turns her hinder towards you, leans tight against you andwants to kick you, then takes off to play. Normal behavior? What would the rest of you do?
