So what size yard do your minis roam? Whats considered minimum ? average? just wondering what everyone has.

Anyone have a pic or idea to make a simple round pen? I need to be able to take it down from time to time..... Snow fence or pallets maybe?

It gets -30 here before windchill on occasion.

I live where winter is 1/2 of the yr or more... lol people talk about 3 sided shelters. Is this enuf or would i be better off with an 4 sided? I was thinking along the lines of a shelter made with a truck topper for the roof... so about 6ft by 8 ft What do you have ? And thoughts please! pics...

one of my relatives heard i was looking for a mini. shes had minis,poneys and biggies. Called me up and is having her "horse guy" find me a driving older mare. I guess there are horse auctions down in the southern part of the state. He said he could find a friendly, kid safe healthy cart horse...

She's kept with the biggies and goats. There all feed free range on the hay. No rhime or reason.

How much do you go thru? Ive seen multiple amounts from 1 flake to 1/2 a bale..... How much on average would a full grown mare eat?

We would have to start with 1.....but i hear there like tater chips. lol

I thought about that... I was thinking if we get one I'll have the fixing done as soon as they can. I just found a 7 yr old mare. That was put on the back burner so to say. She needs floating most likely and for sure a ferrier visit.

Honestly no. Other than reading a ton on here and you tube. Im a quick learning guy and not afraid to ask for advice.

Were looking at getting our first horse. He would be a foal. Is a first horse as a foal recomended most older ones around me are not trained in the least bit.
