Curious about a name: Avendale (farm)?

My Sis bought a cart with a cover that has the logo and name "Avendale" on it. Looks like a shadow of a horse and dog. Does anyone know or remember who that was. They were said to have at least one winner in roadster. Just curious who it might be.

    Double Diamond Cart

Want opinions from anyone who has or had owned or even driven a Double Diamond (Black Diamond) cart. I remember some cart maker stopped production for a while and this company produced their own label for a while. I just would like to know if they hold up well and are well balanced. Thanks.

Tongue over the bit--riders or drivers

When my guy (mini) first started driving, he constantly put his tongue over the bit ( I thought just to avoid). However, I finally tried a low port on him and he actually seemed to like it. After a lot of miles and with a year or so in age, we went to a Mullen ( which in a Mylar is a little...

    Halter Obstacle Ideas

Spending lots of time with your horse and always remaining calm and patient enables you to gain his trust. A bit of practice with the obstacles and Loads of Trust are the keys yo a good obstacle horse. I've worked with my mare since she was a baby and have her total, complete trust. I have...

tricks of the mini clipping trade!?

If you are clipping more than one, which have to do, I like to clip bodies one day, then come back and do legs, another day, and if it's the first clip I might even wait and do the heads another day. That way I don't kill myself trying to do it all still once or run out of patience with a horse...

    Convention 2014

I tried to search but didn't find anything. Does anyone know when and/or where the ASPC-AMHR Convention is this coming fall? Hubby is making plans ahead and I need to get my dates in. thanks.

    Quarter Method for Showmanship

You need to look at the rules for where you are showing but essentially you draw a visual line down their back ( head to tail) ....and if using the quarter type showing another line thru their middle or shoulder. You stay to the front Side of the horse's head but opposite side from the judge...

Ok, sorry but the link to mmhc above only has the 2013 show. Maybe I'm too "ready" for show season. Just like to plan and dream thru this yucky weather.

    MMHC show

If I'm wrong, I apologize but you can only see the facebook page if you are a friend (member of the site). I have requested to be added but this is not the best way, if it is limited to members, for information to get out on your show.

New to "This World of Mini's" & Driving

Definitely they will get the same messages thru the reins that your English horse would pick up on. Since the western riding is done with such a loose rein I don't feel the reins make the same sort of contact. Instead I think they pick up the body shift of weight which the mini can't feel...

No, not leadline that usually goes by mini rules which limits riders to age 6. In the Shetland rulebook there is a class called Leading Rein and the age is higher up to age 8.

poniesrule, the hardest thing for me to get my "head" around after the big horses was driving these little guys and not being able to use my body weight, or legs to move them. After that it's pretty much all the same. Good luck and have fun!

Donna have the classes been set yet? I tried to ask Merry if there was a lead rein (for Shetlands) but haven't heard back from her. My granddaughter was hoping there would be.

    What is the shiny stuff??

About the "gray muzzle". Some horses clip lighter than others and if they are shaved the light skin on the around the nose looks odd (to me anyway). I have a sliver dapple that is darker naturally around the eyes and mouth but if he's shaved then the skin is pink looking....nasty. Granddaughter...
