Trail riding on my 20 yr. old Quarter Horse is one of my big joys in life. I also enjoy our grade Shetland pony mare - coal black, no white. Of course her name is Black Beauty. She is 13 yrs. old. Last year, I gave her to my granddaughter on her 9th birthday. Next is my super sweet AMHR mare, RT'S Classic Princess. She is 15 yrs. old. She was bred & born in N.D. I bought her 2 yrs. ago (this month) at an open horse auction in Kalona, IA. She had sold, in Feb. at a mini horse sale in S.D. She then traveled to Tennessee & Ohio (to sales) before coming to IA. where I bought her. She was in foal - didn't know when she would foal so I was constantly watching her. She finally foaled in early July. A beautiful palomino colt. Of course, I had to name him Trigger I gave Princess to my other granddaughter on her 7th birthday last August. She showed her in 2 classes at the Mississippi Valley Fair Miniature Horse show - first for both of them to be in the show ring. They received a 4th & a 2nd. I also showed Princess in the aged mare class, over 34" and we won that class, going on to win Res. Champion over 34" mares. I also showed her in the obstacle class & she won it - she was so good!! It was such fun. This was an unrated show. This year the show will be Class A so I won't show - too much $$ needed to enter. But, my minis give me joy just being a part of the family. Princess is 38" so just the right size for our granddaughter to ride. Not sure what Trigger will be doing - he's still at that gangly growing stage. I have found that miniature horses are very special.
