I am a 61 year old divorced (for 30 years) dog and horse lover. After having a horse be at the top of my birthday, Christmas and every wish list as a child, I finally made my own dream come true at 27 years of age, when I bought my first horse off the track (literally. He raced the day before I took him home) as a four year old. I had him for 32 years and had to put him down at 36 years old, because his arthritis pain was no longer manageable. As a first time horse buyer/owner I went against the advise of every horsey friend I had, when I bought him and I never regretted it for a second. He was THE best, first horse a young, dumb, horse crazy girl, could ask for. I cannot count the number of times my stupidity should have seen me dead or at least hospitalized, but he put up with all of my ignorance and helped me learn. He was amazing and I miss him still.

My second boy I bought when he was three. He is a registerable Paint, with Painted Jewel in his pedigree but that was not why I bought him. I wanted him as a replacement for my OTTB who deserved retirement and we have ridden 1000's of miles in the last 18 years, running/working cows, trail riding and just having fun.

Enter Mo Mo the mini. I am now 61 and my Paint is nearing retirement as am I. I wanted a pasture buddy for him and a project for me. A friend who breeds and shows mini's (beautiful ones) had acquired Mo from an acquaintance, who had fallen on hard times and could no longer keep him. Mo had lost an eye to an untreatable ulcer (thousands were spent trying to save it) Being a breeder and show person, there was no time to give a one eyed gelding the attention he deserved so when I expressed a desire to find a friend for my paint, she suggested I come and meet Mo.

The rest is history but after years of horse ownership, I am on unfamiliar territory with this wee guy.

He sticks at 34 inches and in his show days, was quite stunning. Very "arab" looking. Now he is just a wooly little pony with a sweet face and a kind disposition who has never learned anything outside of halter work and feet trimmings. I want to train him to drive so that I can load up the rescue dogs and make a spectacle of myself in my little rural community, as we mosey down the road, hopefully spreading smiles and having fun.
