Pannus in German Shepherd - anybody had it before?

My parents bred working line shepherds for years, and never had an issue. When they got out of big dogs (after my mom was in an accident, and lifting the big dogs was just out of the question) I got a dog from another breeder, who developed Pannus when she was 6. She got the eye drops twice a...

    Health E-Z Hay Feeder

I know of people who have used them with big horses, and the plastic rubbed their muzzle raw where their muzzle fit into the openings.

    Showing a "A" mini in a "B" class???

She shows at whatever she measures as at the show. Many trainers can make a true 34" horse go either way, depending on hoof. Just make sure she has the body to go up against the 38" horses in those b classes, thats generally the disadvantage.

Any issues gelding when it is cold out?

I think march is the best time of year in PA to geld. Watch for when the weather is supposed to stay decent for a few days. Ive never had a vet want me to cold hose, actually they insisted no baths for 2 because they wanted to keep the area as dry as possible. We usually start getting flies...

    Temperament-difference between minis and ponies

I wanted to mention, by "wild" I didnt mean unfriendly, like I said, unhaltered in the field this boy will gladly walk next to you like your leading him, is the first to greet you at the gate, and is curious and wants attention. By farrier shows shetlands and sometimes jokes that we have him...

    Temperament-difference between minis and ponies

My minis are very "quarter horse" like in temperment, they are calm, easygoing, and generally do what I ask. They learn quick, and are obediant. My shetland is hot like an arabian, has a lot of presence, and is super super smart He has a lot more presence and is upright and a showboat. He...

    Horse trailers

I got rid of my 1 year old custom built aluminum mini trailer and got a Titan brand two horse straight load, with a full size tack room. Their straight load does NOT have a center post down the back, so you can easily load your cart inside the trailer without taking the wheels off. There is a...

    Pasture fertilizer reccomendations?

We actually disked all of the grass under three times during the summer when we did it, then put horses on it to prevent it from growing back. Its to avoid founder and laminitis with the minis, and its about impossible to keep a mini fit on a grass pasture. Instead I feed hay in slow feed hay...

    Betta Fish Advice

I have mine in a 10 gallon with some cory cats at the moment, need to add a few more fish. One thing is I would suggest a 10 gallon tank if you can swing it, a 5 gallon might be big enough for a betta, but your going to run out of room for tank mates. Ideally you want 1 gallon of water per 1"...

    Pasture fertilizer reccomendations?

Im not sure if anyone here will have any input, if your anything like me in general, youve tried really really hard to make drylots for your minis. We got my son a riding horse over the winter (I sneak and ride him when my son isnt at the barn) and I currently have him boarded. Im planning to...

Ideas on using kids play yard parts for stalls please?

My son could plow over his playyard by the time he hit 18 months old, and my chihuahuas can jump them, I defiantly wouldnt reccomend them for horses. If you need something portable, use actual corral panels

    Miniature Show Horse Feeding

Strategy is a good feed for all ages of horses. Ill be honest, every other feed we use for a show feed is about $5 a bag more that strategy. If you get your grain from Tractor supply, they sell Dumor Equistages which is actually made by purina and labeled for Tractor supply (dumor is their...

    Miniature Show Horse Feeding

Looks like the grey has a winter coat in the picture, and is probably a bit thinner than the picture lets on. Your not feeding nearly enough. You need to feed them until they are slightly chunky, then exercize it into muscle. You dont want to feed them to be lean. You cant put muscle on a...

    "Straight" Miniatures?? I dont understand

Straight miniature means a miniature without the shetland blood thats getting real common lately. I dont have any beef with shetlands, have one, but I also have a "straight miniature" with no shetland anywhere (unless you want to get into the debate of 50 years ago they were all shetlands etc...
