    Gelding at 6 mo's

Why do you say it decreases quality? It's my opinion that a good horse is a good horse. I am another who prefers to geld young. My favorite gelding, Seven, was gelded at 9 months of age, and while he is just one example, he is a horse who I am head over heels in love with; he is presence and...

    Popping Leg??

JMS Miniatures it sounds like she is talking about her horse's HOCK(S) popping - not stifle. Mshasta88 has given you some good advice; I have actually known of several horses that have had popping hocks. I know one personally and remember they seemed to out grow it, but have always felt a...

I recently had one of my guys done, it was $200 + the farm call of approx. $50. Good luck with your boys, I'm sure they'll do great. I will think of them

She sounds identical to my sabino mare, from the black to Smokey black to bay and with the white hair placement too. No appy genes in her pedigree.

    Anhydrosis

I have a horse here who I suspect has Anhydrosis(horse is unable to sweat) and after discussing it with my vet I am planning on starting her on the product One AC. Has anyone here had experience with this condition? I know Mary here dealt with it her driving mare, and she was the one who...

    Exciting news from OSESA!

I wanted to add that time is running out too! "Bright" is gorgeous, a bright red chestmut with a star (a personal favorite). Anyone would be lucky to win this pretty boy. I really encourage everyone to enter, it is an exciting opertunity! And I have to say that it is great that the club gelded...

    Is PayPal Safe?

I have used it to buy all sorts of things, encluding a horse! Never knew the sender could take back their money! Hmm.. Thank you for this post. I will be more cautious when using it from now on.

    She's so LAZY sometimes!

My vet started with a basic blood test (CBC I want to say, but I'm having a moment) because we really did not know what her issue was. We had thought maybe anemia or hormonal or what Mary's mare had, but when the results came back with "Exertional Rhabdomyolysisis" (aka Tying Up), like I said...

    Happy to Introduce Prince

I'm not very good with names, so I do appologize for that. Judy is Sunny on the forum, and now goes by Judy Neville. Judy used to live here in Ontario and was a wonderful trainer/breeder/judge and a good friend. Life changes took her to Ohio, so I know I don't talk to her as much as I'd like...

    She's so LAZY sometimes!

I'll be honest that I haven't read all the post (will come back on tonight to read through fully); but I thought I should add that when I had "energy" issues with one of my driving horses(especially when not going for "fun" trail drives down the road!), a blood test that showed (and surprised...

    Mares or Stallion

I'm a mare kind of person! There are many gorgeous stallions out there - almost, dare I say, too many . As an owner of a GOOD mare, you have choices to find the perfect stallion to cross her with, to give you the best chance of producing the best possible foal. A good stallion in the right...

Sleazy Sleepwear Stretchy hoods vs fleece hoods

I have always let my horses dry before using a sleazy. On the really hot days I don't use sleazys or blankets, that's just me though. I show a few light minis too and I don't usually have too many issues with stains or marks. I guess it's a personal trial and error thing. Good luck!
