looking for a NON-ROANING Appaloosa miniature... don't need to win the world with it, just want something that is cute, decently built, and won't ROAN!!!! we breed appaloosas, and while I love my little pinto stud, he's not a very good mascot for the ranch with his four high whites and skunk...

considering he is a stallion, he could of traveled, we had a small pony stud who would travel about a half mile to our property and pace our fence at our horses... owners finally realized proper fencing was needed for him...

    Appy question

OHMT , yes I meant varnishing when I said greying, as they share the same idea... but the "growing blanket" is not a true blanket.... it is some sort of varnishing. a true blanket should not grow, or shrink. if it is growing then it is due to a varnishing/greying gene that the horse carries on...

    Appy question

Blankets don't "Grow" a correct blanket, should be, when the horse is stripped of hair should have a differing pink area, where the blanket is, vs the black skin were the base coat color will be. granted, LP carrier appies, that aare carrying the "greying" gene, should slowly, overtime collect...

    Appy question

I Breed Appaloosas, and I will say , these are common to see on a horse who has a blanket, granted, genetic studies on the Appaloosa LP gene is limited, if he is an LP Carrier, then I would say these may be "stray" spots does he come from appaloosa-patterned/LP carrier horses??? as I will say...

Help with breeding...should we or shouldn't we?

^^^^^^^^^^ From my personal experience, breeding to have a foal "grow with the kids" never seems to work out well for either the kids or the horse, babies, of all shapes and sizes are dangerous, they don't know anything, and bad habits are formed fast. babies begin to get "opinions" early on...
