    Dry skin?

I used to feed my girl the Purina as well. However, she absolutely hated it and WOULD NOT eat it. I tried EVERYTHING. She was also having dandruff and dry skin. Then, I switched to Gro n' Win by Buckeye Nutrition, and I will never look back! She does not have dandruff anymore and LOVES it. I...

Losing Hair In Weird Spots - Supplement?

I'm not sure if that would be rain rot or a bacteria. But, I do know that my old mini had lice in the past and I found huge rubbed off patches with no hair on them all over her chest and shoulder. My vet told us to bath her in dawn and then spray her with a special chemical lice spray. But you...

Possibly Getting a Yearling - What is a safe age to start training for jumping/agility?

I agree with everyone else. As I have a yearling and got her as a four month old, I want to do in-hand jumping with her too. So, I did some research myself and it sounds like three is a good place to start truly jumping. My 4-h shows only allow 3 year-olds and up in the jumping classes. Ground...

PLEASE HELP Looking for a trailer!

We do have a van but the ceiling is too low :( We also do have a pickup but it is on its last leg and I don't think it could pull a trailer or hold a mini in the bed. We are looking to find a new truck to haul the trailer it at the moment. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

    Please help...extremely overweight mini!

Yes I agree about the ration balancer and the plain salt too. But I just wanted to add I got my red block from Tractor Supply by DUMOR and it said for equines. So, some are made for horses but it really is a preference!

How much space do minis REALLY need?/Am I crazy for even considering it?

I think it would be fine as long they get lots of exercise and a place to run. I also agree with Pitter Patter to just double check your zoning laws so no unexpected unfortunate things happen! I also agree with everyone else on the idea of you should get two instead of just one. Many horses do...

    Please help...extremely overweight mini!

So I haven't read all the replies but here are some suggestions! You can feed in a slow feed hay net to make the hay last longer and maybe not have to feed them as much. Also, try giving them more exercise if they don't get much. Another good thing is to cut off grain but give them a maroon...

How do you fix a mini horses tail???

Hi! I think that the best way to do it is to try blueing shampoos or homemade remedies the other people are recommending. I wouldn't cut it just because it would take a while and just get dirty again. The best thing to do is use whitening shampoos and definitely keep it in a tail bag. Hope this...

    Considering a Miniature Horse

Hi! Minis are definitely great and you wont regret getting one at all! To be honest...I haven't read all the replies but I can say that the body condition is just the same as regular horses. Do you know body condition scoring? That's the easiest, quickest, and best way to determine your mini's...

    Positive Reinforcement 101!

Here's another question, what kind of treats or rewards do you find best for your mini? I personally use the low cal. and no sugar treats from I think Buckeye Nutrition.

    Positive Reinforcement 101!

Wow that's wonderful! Yea I just taught Poppy be nice but you raise a good point! I think I will start working on the facing forward thing too! Poppy can also get a little pushy when I give her hay so I am working on Be Nice included in walking as well. It's just such a more fun way to train!
