    Its Been A Long Time

Thank you everyone for your nice comments. As for the questions about his head, its a style thing for reiners to have the low headed horses. Dane has never had the desire to lift his head much wither height, and I never tried to make him. I also never tried to make him keep his head where he...

    Its Been A Long Time

Phew its been a long time since I have posted anything on this forum, though I never really left, I have been a lurker for a long while now! I used to have two fantastic Miniature gelding named Spyder and Cinnabar who I spent hours training, showing and loving on. I ended up making the...

    Razored faces

I don't mind, and even like the look of a well razored face. If the face is razored and blended well and done on a color that suits the look, I like it better than a face just clipped. I'd rather leave the eyelashes on though. I don't mind people who decide to razor, if they look after their...

My new Colt at the Armstrong Mini Horse Show

Thank you for the replies. Not sure I appreciate the criticism on my grooming choices. Each to their own I guess.

My new Colt at the Armstrong Mini Horse Show

Here are some pictures of my new colt Silver Birchs Yabba Dabba Doo at the Armstrong Miniature Horse Show this past weekend. In the AMHR show he got second out of three under all three judges in his halter class. He placed second to his stablemate. In the AMHA show he got three firsts out of...

    Thrown from the cart

It's hard from the picture to tell if the harnessing is done alright, maybe others will have better luck, I have a pretty small monitor! Anyway, you might want to look into using a kicking strap. I used one on all my green horses initially. Basically it prevents them from lifting their hind...

    Clipping faces

Same here, when I used to razor I used to actually stick my finger up my horse's nose to stretch the skin, works pretty good!

    Clipping faces

I won't bald a horse anymore for showing in halter. I think balding can look alright on a dark bay or black horse, but on lighter colored horses like sorrels, chestnuts and grays, it looks really awful. When I used to bald my horses they were not able to be horses after a show, I had to cover...

Getting a horse to stand quietly while hitched

I agree with most everything everyone has said, I have tried a few of those strategies myself and they do work. I just have one thing to add. Before you start, make sure there is nothing about your harness or cart that could be pinching or causing pressure anywhere. Make sure your cart is...

    Pics of collection and extension

This was my gelding HP Spyderman in an extended trot. He was not the most talented mover, so this was about the best he could do at the time. He showed in country pleasure. Spyder in a collected trot. I would have liked to see him pushing from behind more, but this is the best I have of a...

    Helmets

I like the Tipperary helmet...it sells in Canada for $69, so not sure how much the US price would be. Its cool and it is comfortable and fits well. I have dial helmets from Troxel, but on both of them the dial system broke and it doesn't work so well anymore.
