The Ballad of the Spotted Toad

LOL, I have really enjoyed reading your saga. May I remind you there is a lot to be said for having a 'This is your job, it's not a big deal, shut up and listen for a minute.' attitude. I listen to my horses, but they also listen to me. Good luck, be careful, and keep updating!

    Collar and Hames

Lol, it's not pretty. and it's a little noisy. However the break strength on everything I used is about 3,000lbs(the chain is over 5,000 LOL). so I don't have to worry about that breaking. This lowers the draft a lot. I'll get pictures hitched when I can. The singletree is attached to the chain...

    Collar and Hames

blah, I think for now I'm going to just keep thinking on it. I'm working on customizing my metal ee cart, and now have the draft pulling from the axle which is much better. (: It's frustrating to find good mini equipment, though what my current harness is nothing to scoff at, lol. Thank you...

    Collar and Hames

Thanks Andrea, everything helps! (: I can see what you mean about the adjustable collar, if I can find a nice mini one I'd be thrilled. I understand that they are hard to fit. Care to share any tips/ key things to look for in fitting the collar?

    Collar and Hames

Hello, A friend of mine told me the other day if I got a collar to fit I'd never go back to a breast collar, even the wonderful freedom collar I have. She's quite knowledgable and so I'm going to try to put as much time and money as I can into exploring this option. Up til now I haven't paid...

Can we see pics of minis in training for driving?

Only one guy in training here. He's for a friend of mine. Probably going be sold this fall. Here's a video of him long lining. He's going to end up a real good horse. At 3 he's not totally convinced, but i am. LOL. It's nice to see everyone else's horses working. (:

Haven't been on in a while

Hi Shorthorsemom, I believe he's cremello. Though I suppose he could be smokey cream or perlino. Never had him tested, never a need to. And thank you. (: I find now that he's not bracing as much he's working through his body better. We do a ton of transitions, otherwise both he and i get...

Haven't been on in a while

Hi Leia, I roached his mane because he has such a thick one. The only thing he doesn't like is when it's freshly done the bugs bite him there. I like the roached look. (: I probably should lower the shafts, but the cart is balanced at that height. I gotta adjust the seat and haven't gotten that...

Haven't been on in a while

Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd share some pictures of my boy, he's out of shape and been out of work since winter. Been getting back to just having fun with some new found free time after getting my hours cut at work. If you click this you should be able to see them, Pictures Any critism is...

    Hi All, just a reminder

The step boards was put there when the vehicle was transported, but that's the passenger's seat, where i was. It's not the angle of the picture, you can see how disfigured the inside of the vehicle is. My friend and i are aware of how lucky we are to be alive, but I wanted to share as a...

    Hi All, just a reminder

Hi Guys, I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I'd share this because maybe it will be a wake up call as it has been for me. On April 12th my friend and I were in a pretty serious car accident. We knew it was bad, but after going back yesturday and looking at it again, we didn't know how...

    Just some winter pictures

So then when we got home I turned him loose in the pasture: Oh, and his mane is roached but I left it be for the winter, so he looks cresty at first glance!

    Just some winter pictures

Hi guys, just thought I'd post some picture I took when I was out on a walk the other day with my gelding Banner. Banner, tied to a tree while I went down to the edge of the ice to get the picture below. Snow covered tracks on the ice. (: A handsome snow pony indeed. (: A leaf...

Well Leia, I'm very late on this...

I don't know how you'd attach shafts to something like this, and I'm not looking to at all. I know the horses that I do this with and shafts are only going to complicate an already dangerous thing in my case. I know that it's hard to flip my set up, I've had Banner double back right next to me...
