    AMHR/ASPC's new look

Next time, post something on this forum. I'm sure you would have gotten a lot of photos in advance. While I think the overall look is much more professional, I do hate the new format for shows. Instead of everything being in columns that are fairly easy to read, all of the information is now...

    AMHR/ASPC's new look

I like the new look as well. But it does load very slowly, even with a high speed connection. And a few people with dial-up have told me they can't get on at all. Had to laugh Leeana - I thought the exact same thing! Quite by accident I found a place to submit photos. It's really easy to...

    conditioning show horses

I agree. If they need a lot of weight taken off or put on, it is not healthy to do that too quickly. I have a overweight mare that I am thinking about showing in 2012. I need to start working with her no later than November if I want to show her by May.

    Questions about AMHR HOF??

Page 327 http://shetlandminiature.com/images/pdf/rules2008.pdf You'll have to contact the office for a current list of classes that qualify. Also page 334 for the "ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Amateur and Youth Award of Excellence". Similar to HOF, only for people.

Newbie Question Alert: How do you get them to stand like that? And Potbellies?

Star Miniatures has some articles that might be helpful. There is one on 'Whoa" and one on leading: http://www.starsminiatures.com/videos.html

How gradually do I ease my yearlings onto grain for their first time?

I agree. Obviously it is too late for these foals - and I don't know what the particular circumstances are of your yearlings - but the first year is critical to their development, and foals need grain from the start.

Do You Think EINSTEIN Is A Dwarf?

Took the words out of my mouth... though the word "distrubing" came to mind as well as astonishing. Normally I would agree that it is rude to offer an unsolicited opinion on a horse. But, as StarRidgeAcres puts it, publicizing the horse as they have opens them up to public opinion. And I...

    JSW farm???

Let's be careful here. If you read her post, she didn't get burnt by the breeder. She bought the mare from someone else. These types of "sale gone bad" threads are dangerous. I'm sure there are more than a few people who now think that Jonathan had something to do with this, when obviously...

Congratulations to Buckeye Walnut Creek Farm

I know Getitia is too humble to post this herself :-), and I hope she will forgive me for posting, but this is exciting news for those of us who love the Mathenys and their horses. Les and Getitia Matheny of Buckeye Walnut Creek Farm have been awarded 2010 AMHR Breeder of the Year...

    Arena footing

I've ridden in an arena with woodchips mixed with sand. It doesn't get as dry as a sand arena, but the chips would occasionally get caught in shoes until the chips had broken down a bit. I know someone who spreads their stall cleanings on a path, then rakes it, and drives on it. It is a very...

    registration help

I don't find a horse with a name close to your horse's name in the ASPC stud book. I also don't find his sire listed in the ASPC stud book (though he too could be under a different name). Based on the entry in the AMHR stud book, I would say that your horse was hardshipped from AMHA to AMHR...

Another hardship question. . . name

That's a good point. I have had a hard time tracking down ancestors for some horses when the name has changed from one registry to the other.

Another hardship question. . . name

First, congratulations on your National win. I actually remember you stallion from Nationals. Personally, I find it annoying when a horse has 2 different names, especially stallions. And from a publicity standpoint, if his foals are going to be both AMHA and AMHR registered, name recognition...

    Pinto of the Year

Congratulations! Sandy, please forgive me if I explain what a PtHA Certificate Of Ability and Certificate Of Achievement are for people who do not show PtHA, because they really are impressive achievements. To earn a Certificate of Ability, you must earn a ROM (like a HOF in AMHR) in 4...
