    2024 Hours Driven

That's fantastic! I've put a rope around the single tree of the board or tire I'm going to have them pull and then around my shoulders while I long line them so they hear the sound before it being attached to them. Once they're calm with that, I'll attach the traces to it. You're getting...

    Driving Discussion 2024

She did great! Met some more kids and had a blast. I was really proud to have her with me! Yes, the new owners of Saddle Up were just the most lovely ladies! They were enamored with Phillippe and didn't pass up the opportunity for pictures with him. He's such a good egg that I feel confident...

    2024 Hours Driven

Oh! And the ADMC AGM was on Saturday while at the trade show. I'm seriously chuffed, my little donkey won the 2023 ADMC High Point Driving award! My very first belt buckle! I had to go out and buy a belt. And you know I found a yellow one! 😁

    Driving Discussion 2024

To go along with the hours logged, I'm so grateful to be home after a very full long weekend. Phillippe and Jasmine accompanied Ali and I to Red Deer for the 2024 Horse Expo Canada where we participated in demos and spent some time in the booth (Ali and I, not the littles) for both the Alberta...

Ok, let's see. Friday was 45 minutes of driving, plus 30 of ground driving Saturday was 45 minutes of driving plus 20 of ground driving Sunday was 1.5 hours of driving I'm going to write about this weekend in the other thread. We were at the big horse expo trade show and I'm so very proud of...

    How's the Weather ?

Snowing today. lol Cause it's Alberta... I'm not complaining, it's still moisture. We need it. Snow is fair game through May long weekend. It usually quits after that. This snow won't stay. I'm sure it will be melted in by tomorrow.

    We are finally getting somewhere!

WOohooo! Baby, happy and healthy! Hope mama's recovering well too. Great job monitoring the milk. It's a fantastic indicator. Excited to see more pictures!

    I Did a Thing...

Last week was just swamped full of all sorts of things, I was hopping and didn't get to spend time with my animals until Sunday. Phillippe and I had a cones-driving lesson and it was awesome! I have an lovely, talented lady who is part body worker, part sorceress and she's just amazing. Her...

Help! What is this? Is it bad?

Always best to call a vet if you have serious concerns, but it's good that there's no blood and you're still seeing obvious foal movements. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes really well and your mare has an easy delivery of a happy, healthy foal.

    2024 Hours Driven

Phillippe and I were out for a 45-minute lesson yesterday. This is the second "lesson" we'd ever had with my good friend at our place. She teaches my daughter. Last year, she came out to coach me through some steering with Phillippe who, at the time, was a bully in driving and would put his...

    Yellow milk

Ok, my rule of thumb is to keep a daily monitor on that fluid. If you have an aquarium pH test kit, that's really handy. When the milk changes from clear to milky white and the pH drops, you're 12 - 24 hours away from foaling. I wish you the best of lucky for an uncomplicated delivery and a...

Help! What is this? Is it bad?

When did you have her confirmed in foal? That looks to me like she's in heat. Is there blood inside the vulva if you open it up?

Mini horse giving neurological symptoms? Help!

Abscesses also come up quickly out of no where, but usually resolve just as quickly. I agree with @LostandFound and @Marsha Cassada, both very knowledgeable and experienced owners. A video will help us give you an impression but a vet is your proper go to. Best wishes!!

@Marsha Cassada I'm pretty sure he was bruised. I put his boots on last time we went up to the road and he was moving really well with no soreness afterwards. Lesson for me.

    Hello from south carolina!

    Glad to have you here!

    Yellow milk

I understand, this fluid is not indicative of imminent delivery, in my opinion. Did you confirm pregnancy?
  18. Standards Equine

    Yellow milk

That's pretty normal. Some mares don't dry up fully ever. The fluid that remains is a yellow, clear fluid.

    Yellow milk

How yellow? Is it actually opaque like milk or is it yellow tinged clear fluid? Colostrum is more yellow colour but it is definitely a milky opaque colour. Once the milk changes, it's 12 - 24 hours. Double checking with a pH test to see if it's dropped would also be a good indicator.
