    strand fencing experiences?

Thanks for the input! You're putting my mind at ease some. I, too, have that red flashing light that tells me if the fencer's not working...it's great! I live on a busy road, so if one were to escape, it would be a big deal for me here. Which is why I considered respacing my strands and...

    Winter Feeding-Hay Rations

I'm in Wisconsin, and I don't limit hay to anyone all winter. Yes, my minis get looking like they're pregnant with twins, but once spring rolls around and they start losing all that winter fur, they don't look as bad. I don't use hay nets or anything, I just let them go at it. It's not a rich...

    strand fencing experiences?

Thanks for the input! They are used to electric fence, just not rope, and not as the ONLY fence. For anyone considering it, I LOVE my Electrobraid, it looks nice, is easy to put up (the hardest part were installing the Mule fiberglass corners), and I have 10 acres fenced in it. We replaced it...

    strand fencing experiences?

Hi all, Merry Christmas! I would like to move my minis into a larger area, where they will be free to graze, and have a LOT more space. However, I have concerns over having them in electric strand fencing, rather than the paddock they are kept in now, which is wire mesh. My front pasture is...

    run in sheds

Well, as for the muck bucket (I'm talking the big thing with the rope handles, not an actual bucket), they're doing some of their going outside...but I wish they'd do all of it! lol... And bedding makes it worse...this is ALL manure, no bedding. They got mats, that's it. I'm betting if I did...

    run in sheds

I'd love to see pics! I want to build one in the spring. One to accomodate my mini and pony geldings (2, 36" and 40"), and my three mini donkeys. They are all kept together, and currently have a "run in" area in my barn, that is 10x15', and they share that just fine. So I'm kinda thinking...

Trick or treating mini--reflective leg bands

I found some of those reflective snap bracelets today at the party store. I bought three sets....two sets for my mini, and one for my son. They should fit around his legs....it has gotten quite chilly here (we have frost at night), and they're getting their fluffy coats, so even though these...

    Fencing, barns etc

Mary, I'd love to see pics of your "pallet barn!" I've seen websites with all sorts of things you can do with pallets, I'm totally inspired! Angie

Trick or treating mini--reflective leg bands

MajorClementine, may have to look for those! I was at our Walmart AND Target this afternoon...didn't see any of those reflective armbands....I didn't think Target would have them, but Walmart has a lot of bike stuff...but all they had were lights....

Trick or treating mini--reflective leg bands

Those Walmart bands are PERFECT!!! I didn't know they made them! I'll have to make a trip to Walmart this week! Maybe this afternoon! I will post pics....I posted some last year...using the same costume, last year I didn't glue the PVC "skeleton" together and it fell apart with his movement...

Trick or treating mini--reflective leg bands

This will be our fourth year taking Magic, one of our mini geldings, trick or treating. He is carrying "the headless horseman" on his back. He also has saddlebags and passes out candy to the kids. I've always put those glow bracelets on his legs....I'm actually considering quickly making...

    Help on Buying First Harness?

I bought my first (and only) harness from Iowa Valley Carriage...I love it! It was specially made by my measurements, yet has the space to be adjusted up or down yet...looks nice, the fit was GREAT! (it fit my measured horse right smack dab in the middle setting everywhere, so I could use it...

    Beet pulp soaking

Can't answer that....good question though. I feed beet pulp to my old mare, and it soaks up SO fast if I use hot water. Within minutes. So, I bring my beet pulp for her in a pail up into the garage after choretime at night, and when I get up in the morning, throw hot water in it, and once...

    Slowing down the pawing

Thank you Sandy.... That was going to be my method...on nice, comfortable days. I've even tried it....tying him to a tree in the yard, and walked away. I actually started this because I'd given him a bath, and wanted to let him dry, and figured he'd dry nicely in the breeze outside rather...
