This is an "ask the expert" Forum about the genetics of Dwarfism in the
Miniature horse. It will be a time limited Forum, meaning the threads will not
stay here forever. Please restrict your questions to this subject only. If you
want to ask a general question, he will answer it via the forum within his
time frame for all to see. If you ask John about your specific situation
involving your horses on this public forum, please understand he will not
respond to your question here. He will PM you or email you privately, and if
need be even a phone call. His private answer will be confidential and will not
be posted for others to read and learn. Unfortunately, this must be done in a
forum like this. This is also how his research is done, as all of you can
understand, due to the sensitivity of this matter for the future of the breed.
If John has answered a question already he will refer you to review the thread,
this is to allow as many different types of questions to be asked and to
decrease the repetitiveness that sometimes occurs with these types of threads.
This will allow everyone to learn as much as possible as quick as possible.

Each individual may start a NEW TOPIC by asking a question or questions. (just like on any other Forum on LB) IF YOU ARE NOT JOHN DO NOT RESPOND TO THE QUESTION. ONCE JOHN HAS ANSWERED A QUESTION/QUESTIONS THE THREAD WILL BE CLOSED. Anything inappropriate will be deleted. And please be UNDERSTANDING and PATIENT with this Forum, he is not sitting with baited breath 24/7 for your questions to immediately respond, but he totally understands some of you will be anxious for his answers.

Once this Forum closes the answers will be combined and put on the BEST OF MINIATURE HORSE FORUM.

His answers will be his opinion based on his education, research, and experience
within the breed; unless he states known proven genetic facts, which will be
stated as such.

His credentials are as follows:

B.A. in Biology, minor in biochemistry
currently working on his M.S. and PhD in Equine Genetics (concurrently) at the
University of Kentucky Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center
He is now concentrating on his thesis defense of "Dwarfism in the Miniature
Horse"
Owner of Arion Management Inc.
showing, breeding and managing Miniatures for over 28 yrs. with numerous World
and National titles.
Licensed AMHA judge and currently working on his AMHR and ASPC cards

Some of you are emailing me because you are confused on what to do. It will become more clear when you see one or two topics posted, answered by John and closed

ALL Forum member may ask a question by starting a NEW TOPIC......just like on the Main Forum or any of the other Forums.

The only difference is that JOHN IS THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION/QUESTION. Once John has answered the topic will be closed.

You are more than welcome to post another TOPIC if you have another question. Hope this helps.

PLEASE LOOK THROUGH THE TOPICS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN POSTED AND TRY NOT TO DUPLICATE. Thanks, Carol
