Being a button collector, I received the Australian Button Collector newsletter.  There was a recipe for button cookies.  I had to adapt it to American ingredients and measures.  Really easy dough to work with and delicious.  I made the button cookies as shown in the newsletter, and also animal cookies.

The animal cookies are made with a cutter from Fancy Flours.  I made dozens of them.  The grandchildren were here yesterday and ate every one.  Not even a leg left.  I can send the recipe as a pdf if you contact me.
