I currently have a fixed shaft cart, considering selling it to purchase a cart with removable shafts so it will fit in the tack room of my trailer. My biggest concern is are they as sturdy and is it worth it?

I think, for me, it would depend on the style. On my larger horse carts the shafts are removable. They have 2 large pins that hold them on securely. They are very quick and easy to get on and off the cart and do make it very nice for storing and traveling.

My mini cart has bolt on shafts and they are a pain to bolt and unbolt. Not to mention that I prefer to add lock-tite when bolting on shafts. All that bouncing while driving can easily work even the tightest bolt loose.

So I guess what I'm saying is that if they have a pin system or something similar to remove and reattach the shafts then go for it. If they simply unbolt, I'd say not worth it.
