When can you start line driving a mini. Or just attach two lead lines on and walk behind them?

Hi Sierroth, I don't have a lot of experience with training horses to drive, so I can't help you a whole bunch , but maybe a little. :-)A way I think works easy is teaching them to work in a circle ( in a roundpen or on a longe line, or both at times) and getting them used to wearing the harness while traveling (which might take introducing the harness without them purposely moving first) , then adding long lines and working them from the side in a much similar manner to that that yo...

I guess it didn't have enough room for all of my comment in one so I'll try to finish up here. "you did when working them without the lines, then gradually get them comfortable with you walking/steering behind them. Hope that makes sense, you'll probably get more responses ( from some very nice people, who are more experienced than I) if you post your question(s) as a topic , under driving miniature horses. Best of luck on your adventures !

We have a small ranch and have a yearling mini whose mother is pregnant and due to birth within the next couple of weeks. We don't have the facilities to do much separation and the mother and yearling are still very involved. Any ideas for what to do when the new foal arrives?

Hi Sande is the yearling the foal of the pregnant mother ? Might be worth starting a thread so people can offer some suggestions in regards to temp accomodation for separation.
