We had our first foal - filly, born on February 7, at 7PM and 7 degrees. Almost called her 7UP LOL. Her name is CMC Evening Star (barn name Stella). She is sired by GRF Royal Star Designer Domino and out of Buckeye WCF Paposo Red Alert. This is Red Alert's first foal and she is being a very good mom.

For the record she doesn't have power wheel cars and play pens in her stall lol. I could only get her to walk as far as the hay barn to get her out of the rain. We made it to her stall after she had some time to rest.

This is Yukon, our colt born on January 22, the coldest day of the winter here in Maine. It was something like -10* and the windchill was close to -30*F.
His Dad is a BTU son and his dam is a Buckeroo granddaughter. They are both bay-- something like 7% chance of getting a sorrel out of 2 bays!
He is full of it and very smart!

Do I think there is police brutality going on in this country? Sure, it happens, and it's not ok, is this a case of it? We will never know for sure...with so many hands in the pot and so much publicity, there may never be a clear answer. I will tell you this, the officer encountered blacks on a daily basis, if it was a racial motivated shooting don't you think he would of shot some random black person sooner?

I applaud the judge at a Shetland show that excused a stallion and handler. It was a halter class of aged stallions. The stallion just got more and more obnoxious as the class went on. He had his "equipment" out and ready and finally mounted his handler from the rear. It took the ring steward and judge to help get him off and under control! (The handler WAS experienced and not unknown). The judge disqualified and excused that stallion from not only the class, but from the rest of the show. My husband and I decided the stallion not only needed to be gelded but have a lobotomy!

Latest Work of Art.
Is a combo of watercolor and digital painting with painter 12. Never seem to be able to do a traditional painting. Normally I do a mix media.

Best thing is a GOOD farrier. One who has had training on how to trim for correct balance, as well as health issues such as white line, thrush, founder. One of the things many farriers do is leave WAY WAY too much heel, which causes them to stand up like on soda cans, forcing them "over" at the knees, which is painful for the horse. I've owned horses for over 50 years, have watched as they trimmed thousands of feet over that period of time, and would never trim my own unless I went to an in-depth class. I have fired 4 farriers - one I threw off the property because he just was incompetent. Just because they have a hoof nipper and a rasp doesn't mean they should be anywhere near a horse.

How I show--I jog properly, so my horse trots out. Too many exhibitors look like they are showing a dog rather than a horse--it is one thing I dislike about mini shows.

As promised when I finished my thesis I would let the Lilbeginnings be notifies for all those that helped and showed interest.
I am presently working on the paper to be submitted to a peer reviewed magazine. Should be done shortly. Until then you can read the pdf from the UK library. The tests are being optimized for the testing machines here at Gluck so they are not ready.... YET. UK has applied for the patents to these tests. So UK will be the only place to have your horses tested in the US. If you are outside the US it is different.
