We had our first foal - filly, born on February 7, at 7PM and 7 degrees. Almost called her 7UP LOL. Her name is CMC Evening Star (barn name Stella). She is sired by GRF Royal Star Designer Domino and out of Buckeye WCF Paposo Red Alert. This is Red Alert's first foal and she is being a very good mom.

My family doctor is here for only two years during her residency. She will be leaving Kentucky next month to go to Tennessee to do her specialized training. I wanted her to have something to remember Kentucky (and me) so I made her this little lap quilt. I presented it to her this afternoon. She's been so sweet and really takes time to talk to us about hubby's treatment so I will be sorry to see her leave. I think she liked it.
I have no idea why that picture is laying on it's side. Sigh. I'm so much better at quilting than I am with technology.

For the record she doesn't have power wheel cars and play pens in her stall lol. I could only get her to walk as far as the hay barn to get her out of the rain. We made it to her stall after she had some time to rest.

This is Yukon, our colt born on January 22, the coldest day of the winter here in Maine. It was something like -10* and the windchill was close to -30*F.
His Dad is a BTU son and his dam is a Buckeroo granddaughter. They are both bay-- something like 7% chance of getting a sorrel out of 2 bays!
He is full of it and very smart!

I entered three of my quilts in the county fair this weekend and I walked away with three blue ribbons. **doing the happy dance** I had them in three categories: baby quilt (the little cream one hanging on the pipe), hand quilted (the queen sized whole cloth that is on the table) and hand quilted by a member of the homemakers club (double wedding ring). Evidently, there aren't many hand quilters here but that's OK with me. So I walked away with three blue ribbons and a check for $15.

I have envied peonies in people's gardens. Last fall I contacted a peony grower and asked about a variety that would grow in my area. I am so happy with it! The flowers are beautiful and so fragrant!

Do I think there is police brutality going on in this country? Sure, it happens, and it's not ok, is this a case of it? We will never know for sure...with so many hands in the pot and so much publicity, there may never be a clear answer. I will tell you this, the officer encountered blacks on a daily basis, if it was a racial motivated shooting don't you think he would of shot some random black person sooner?

I applaud the judge at a Shetland show that excused a stallion and handler. It was a halter class of aged stallions. The stallion just got more and more obnoxious as the class went on. He had his "equipment" out and ready and finally mounted his handler from the rear. It took the ring steward and judge to help get him off and under control! (The handler WAS experienced and not unknown). The judge disqualified and excused that stallion from not only the class, but from the rest of the show. My husband and I decided the stallion not only needed to be gelded but have a lobotomy!

Latest Work of Art.
Is a combo of watercolor and digital painting with painter 12. Never seem to be able to do a traditional painting. Normally I do a mix media.

Hey! As I stated above, I am new to the forum....well sorta. I used to be on here under a different profile years ago. I had 3 minis and and A welsh at the time. I lost my welsh in 2015 to cancer. I sold my show gelding to a wonderful home in VT when i moved out of my parents house. He was just going to waste and I couldn't have that. It left my first mini, Josh and my moms little gelding, Knight. We just lost Knight back in December to unknown causes. He was at a facility for over a month under 24hr care. We could have opened him up and tested but we couldn't bare to do so. After losing him, it left Josh all alone. It was either find him a new home, or find him a buddy. There was no way I was letting him go anywhere, He is 12 years old and I have had him since 6 months old. We leased a mini mare from a friend of ours but she turned out to be horrible. She beat up on him, bit, kicked, and even kept him from getting water. If he tried to move around the pasture she went after him. The only time he was able to be free was when he was in his own stall at night. My mom had, had it with her, So once again we were on the look out for a friend. I was at work a few months ago, on my break and scrolling through facebook when I got a notification that someone posted in Maine horses for sale page. Turned out it was an old friend of ours that we bought a haflinger of off, back in 09. He had been my "heart horse" and was taken from me way too soon. Anyway, she posted that she had a little almost 3 year old mini mare for sale. Mind you, we were only looking for a friend for Josh, nothing fancy or showy, Just something healthy and friendly. We went to meet her and fell in love with her, Winter woolies and all. Once we got her home I was itching to clip her, and peak at what was under all that hair. Boy were we in for a surprise...
Her ad photos..
After a bath and some clipping
and of course, here is Josh!

OK, so there is a sale group in the county here in Kentucky on facebook. I pull it up on my computer every now and then just to see what people have for sale locally. You never know, I might find a great deal on something. But tonight I just got tickled. Here are two headlines from ads that I saw tonight.
Bike for sale. Road once. (really, maybe you "rowed" it?)
and this little gem:
For sale: little big wheel (so is it little or is it big?)
I just thought I'd share. They just tickled my funny bone, for some reason. I actually had to laugh.

Would there have been this much media attention or riots if the officer was black and the victim white?Would Sharpton and Eric Holder have gone to MO and would the President and the media have got into this mess?Would the white people have done riots and looting?I think not.It would have just all been in the days work.Lack of proper upbringing is often just an excuse for bad behavior .So many in our country have a sense of entitlement due to our government programs. Many generations have never had a job or have had to work for anything they have(all races)Our country is in a SAD state.I am sorry for the young man who lost his life and for his family and for the officer who did the shooting.Hopefully the truth will come out and all will be able to accept it whatever it is.In my area a dead person who was shot or killed violently is ALWAYS portrayed as an angel by family or friends regardless of the race even though they may had a had a rap sheet a mile long..I guess to the family they were an angel.I saw something on facebook a while back that Bill Cosby said about being black. Can't remember all that he said.He basically said that people need to take accountability for their own behavior and stop blaming others
