    Nursing home visit

I took Billy to the nursing home yesterday. My sister took her Jackie. A friend took some little nigerian dwarf goats. It was Western Day at the nursing home, so we were part of the theme activities. Billy enjoyed himself. He was into licking--chairs, shoes, blankets, hands. Kind of nerve...

    Easy Boots

I really like Easy Boots, as they are quick and easy to put on. But the velcro fails. This is the second set I've had to buy because the velcro fails. I've heard of people wrapping duct tape, which would work if one were out on a trail and desperate. (In fact, might be a good product to...

    Allergic reactions

A friend's horse developed hives. It was a couple of days after taking Bute. (She had slipped in mud and hurt her leg.) Has anyone had an allergic reaction to bute? Would it be more likely something in her paddock/something she ingested? Of course, the hives showed up on a Friday evening...

    Fewer Topics

Are fewer people sharing their miniature horses, or are there so many new online places to "play"? This used to be a very active group. Are there a ton of social media/online sites to use? I never find any that are as good as this one.

    St Patrick's Day

Billy had reservations about wearin ' o' the green. We walked about a mile; it was windy and the garland was noisome, but he stuck it out. The socks made him paw. If we go somewhere next Sunday, he will be more used to the decorations.

    What to do?

I've been on this forum a long time and feel as though I have many horse friends here. I want to vent a little, or maybe generate some helpful ideas. When I lost Dapper Dan last April, it seemed to just break my heart. I had acquired Billy as a companion for him; he was given to me and I...

    Happy New Year 2024

Weather was pretty today before the next storm moves through so we did our photo today. What a beautiful blue sky! Billy wishes all his Forum friends a happy new year!

    Christmas 2023

When I had Dapper Dan's horse hair pottery bowl made a few years ago, the potter added this ornament with "DD" impressed. Hung it on the tree this week.

    Christmas photos

It's a little early, but the weather was perfect to work outdoors, so I thought I'd put some Christmas stuff on Billy. Seems funny to only have the one horse--no Dapper Dan. He loved dressing up. Billy seems to enjoy it also. I used a tree skirt on him; i think it works pretty well. I'd...

    Winter Grooming

I use the air compressor in the winter to blow Billy's coat out, as just brushing doesn't get down deep in the thick coat. Helps to blow the mane and tail, and around the fetlocks to keep any eye out for anything unhealthy. The first time or two he kept moving away from the compressor, but now...

    Bicycle trailer

I'm ordering a trailer to pull behind my Ebike so I can take my dog Pepper along on my rides. This is the one I'm getting. There are lots more expensive ones. The Trek dealer suggested the Burley, but this one has good reviews too. Anyone have experience with bike trailers for their dogs? I...

    Purpose of Whiskers

I got this interesting topic and thought it would be of interest to others.

    Mirror

Some discussion recently about using a mirror for a horse that is an "only". I bought a regular door mirror. Husband mounted it on plywood screwed to the perlan. When I first took Bill out to see it, he sniffed it then ran out of the lean to. This morning I saw him sleeping in the corner by...

    Arena mirrors

If anyone has experience with arena mirrors I'd appreciate some discussion. I'm thinking of getting one to put inside my horse's shed so that he think there is another horse for companionship. I'd open to ideas about this.

    donkey gelding

I local person who adopted a full size donkey took him to be gelded to an experienced horse vet yesterday. He was up, got into the trailer, and seemed okay. He did drink a lot of water last night, which seemed unusual. She went out this morning and he was dead. She called the vet and was...

    Billy

Billy is doing some serious clicking when he moves. I was concerned about driving him, so took him to a different vet yesterday for possible xrays. She spent time with him, flexing, having her helper walk and trot him, and listening. She said xrays were not really necessary. He has some...

    Miniature Steer

We are off today to look at a miniature hereford steer. It's a 2+ hour drive, but it should be a pretty drive. I'm a little nervous about getting a steer; haven't been around cattle as an adult. You can see him at QM Miniature Herefords on facebook. My knowledgeable local vet says he and...

    Button image

I collect buttons. This one seemed pretty interesting. Does anyone have ideas about it? It is French. Would it have something to do with Hunting?
